Glad to hear you got it going is the power better or worse with the new motor. Did you put a cam in also sounds like the tune my be off alittle it shouldnt try and die after you rev it.

Also Im sure its been covered but didnt really see anything in the quick search I did will my brake lines from the ten bolt work on the 60.
Thanks.

You think its the axles or the heavy ass military wheels you're running?

It would be a combo of both. I need to take the runflats out of these tires as I usually put on my TSL's if I am gonna do any off roading.

Power is 100% better, I can actually use 4 high now:D The cam is a comp 275HR, Jesse @ wait4me did the mail order tune and it is not dead on by no means. I need to get it retuned in the near future.

The 10 bolt brake line won't work, get these from napa as they are a lot longer.... napa part # 38286 those are plenty long.

I put close to 100 miles on it this weekend with the nice weather we had and no issues what so ever, while out driving I just keep thinking to my self why didnt I swap to fuel injection earlier its so nice. Also picked up a set of recentered H1 take offs for the 60/14 swap need to get them painted.

Anyone around dfw looking for a truck cab, bed, and frame I'm gonna be hauling whats left of the cucv off in about two weeks to get crushed so if you come get it its yours.

I posted this in another tread awhile back figured I would put it up in here in case anyone was looking for the info.

i just finished my swap on a very tight budget so i will give you my break down to give u another idea on the possible cost.

Pulled the axles from the CUCV.

Well last week I got a delivery from Northwest fab via brown santa but the box was destroyed and my crossover arm was gone out of the box. :doah:
So Northwest fab is shipping another arm for my D60 here is what showed up didn't get the drag link in the photo.

This weekend I was finally able to pull the axles out of the CUCV and haul it off to the scrap yard. Here's some picks from the removal.
Front axle out.

Probably would of had the axles in the blazer by the end of the month but driving to work Monday the trans in my DD blew up so now my funds will be going into getting that rebuilt. Here's the specs on the trans rebuild

HD upgrade package including shift kit, pump upgrade kit with hardened rings and torrington vanes, all bushings, washers bearings, new shift solenoids, epc solenoid, 3-2 down and pwm solenoids, bored TCC circiut with new valves, heavy duty reaction sun shell, 29 element input sprag, new bonded drum pistons, remachined reverse input drum, heavy duty high energy 2-4 band, high capcity 2nd gear servo, billet accumulator pistons, 8 clutch high energy 3-4 clutch pack and lube and pressure mods. This also includes our built converter with furnace brazed cover, new torrington bearings, tig reinforced fins, new sprag springs and rollers, heavy duty clutch and damper.

So maybe come May I have the one tons done.

Thanks for the pics. Would it be rude to ask you how much you got for the scrap frame and body? I guess it is too late to worry, because I already asked.

I say this because I am interested in scavenging the surrounding 300 miles for cheap (possibly free) 3/4 ton and 1 ton vehicles in an attempt to sell their engine, tranny, tcase, and axles then scrapping the body. My thought process is, I get people what they want, get better vehicles on the trail, make a fair profit (get to spend a little bit of time with my dad and family doing it), and get parts for my own ****. If people want to pay for it, and I can facilitate it, I may go as far as to rebuild old 454's (currently working on making a gen 6 into a 500+hp&ft/lbs 496 stroker, should make grown men achieve boners in envy or blow up on start up, probably 20/80 chances towards me failing) or tcases, etc.

Long story short, the cost of the scrap is crucial to the economics. In order to do this, I would have to (have more free time than I do) be able to make enough money off of the scrap to justify the gas/time if I sell nothing and end up calling upon one of my coloradok5 brethen to haul my dana 60's off.

Thanks

Chris

I didnt get anything for the scrap do to not having a title for the truck. The title was going to be 100 bucks and there wasn't enough scrap there to justifly the cost.

Fuel MPG

Well since my trans blew up on my DD I have been driving the K5 to work everyday about a 40 mile round trip only thing I have had a problem with is that I broke a weld on a exhaust hanger. Since driving it so much I was able to final figure out the fuel mileage and it right around 9-10mpg so I'm hopeing it goes up some once I get my new axles in with better gears.

You need to bring that beast by the office. I got a welder and we can put your hanger back together.

I need to bring it by. Its funny you say that cause I threw a quick bead on there right before I loaded up my welder to weld up the exhaust on my DD.

Fixer supposed to come by tomorrow around 6 to pick up some stuff. It could be the DFW area meet n greet
