trying to do a lot of reading and learning on links, should i go with a 3 link? or try and make a 4 link work? i dont want to go to full hydro steering

well, i might be going to tuttle on the 16th, so for now i'll probably just swap in the 52 inch front springs and run those until i do some more research on linking the front. And since im using a different dana 60 front and different frame, i might just build the new frame with front and rear suspensions and swap my drivetrain over when its done.

And since you guys like pictures (not that anyone is reading this)

And my girlfriend welding on my next racecar.

Run the 52s as long as you need too to understand a link suspension. Lots to read on here in Greg72s thread. Other threads too. But alot of theory talk in Gregs thread. See if you can go wheeling with some linked rigs. There is a link calculator that will give you basic numbers.

52s flex good but links are mo bettah

Thanks.

I figured he must have some back story if he's bothering to share what otherwise looks like a routine part of this hobby. :dunno:

It was actually from my 73, im tubbing it and cut it open pulling the old wheel tub out. it was uploaded with some other pictures so i threw it in haha

Thanks for the advice! I've read most of gregs thread, probably wouldnt hurt to go back through some of it.

Just cruised thru this whole thread. Digging it.

Thanks!

Also, i just learned how to reply to mutliple messages at once. :woot:

Because I'm stubborn, I desperately tried to package a front 4-link with crossover steering into my truck....I tried EVERYTHING that I could think of and just couldn't make it work.

Admittedly there are some axle-shifting issues with a 3-link geometry, but when designed properly it's only at the extreme limits of articulation anyway, so it's largely irrelevant. You may end up wasting 100s of hours trying to design a decent 4-link only to end up with a 3-link anyway....given how long it can take to build suspension from scratch, you may want to claw-back those hours sooner rather than later.....you will still need them!

Even with a brain injury and broken bones, he comes through with a massive knowledge drop!

That was not a falling pun either.

I just lifted my head up off the concrete long enough to blurt out a few helpful tips....then I fall back into an unconscious heap. :haha:
