83/09 4bt K5 (BB2016)

What is going on tomorrow?

Martin

not really sure to be honest, i just heard meet at the gas station in orleans, probably just go to the trails south of town, usually nothing fun but with all the rain we had it could be a good time.

I am still waiting to see if the trails are open in Fullerton.

Martin

probably should have taken pictures when it was clean, but i finished it about 3 minutes before i was supposed to leave, how does the shackle angle look?

Not bad. How did it work?

Martin

Not bad actually, didnt do anything too crazy, just a lot of mud. I did do one climb when we were done wheeling, took it up a 3 foot straight up bank at an angle just to see if the rear locker was working, climbed right up and nothing broke. :waytogo: now i need to go do it again and take a picture of it flexing, or trying to.

I called Fullerton. They are going to have the trails open next weekend if it dries up.

sweet! i should probably put my fixed yoke on, fix the steering arm, and clearance the t-case crossmember so the front driveshaft isnt rubbing, then im good to go!
:D

I need to make a new steering arm that has a Z in it, this was just a temporary one to get out to move around when i was building it but then i didnt feel like building another one

For almost no measurements it sits pretty good though

tried letting the driveshaft self clearance itself on the stock crossmember, driveshaft is broke. loud noises. will worry about it eventually. :D

So . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . you're not coming up to Fullerton today?

Martin

Ok, now that I know who you are now I have been following this much more.:thumb:

Looks good I like the front end conversion and your attitude to do things different.

If i wouldve read this sooner i would have went back to the shop and put a new driveshaft on and drove up, damn... hopefully picking up some 44s tonight though :woot:

Thanks! i'd still trade for yours any day though, so whenever you get done bring it on over to Nebraska

Finally got around to wiring up the switch for the light bar (im pretty lazy). With the light bar on, you can barely tell a difference if the headlights are on or off.

well i have absolutely no updates on the blazer, i did buy a 2000 gmc sierra 2500 and a high pinion dana 60 with the plans of 4 linking it and then selling the blazer. Talk me out of it.

also been busy doing boring things in something a little faster than the diesel blazer..

both are expensive hobbies, might end up selling the blazer and the truck

Read through this today. Blazer looks good. I would keep the K5, seeing how much time, effort, and money you have into it. Unless your time is worth very little to you, I don't think you'll get enough money out of selling the K5 to compensate for what you have into it. Plus, it sounds like you're enjoying it, aside from being distracted with go-fast cars.

The truck conversion will be a lot of work. If you enjoy the conversion more than the driving, the truck might be best. If you enjoy using your blazer more than working on it, the pendulum swings the other way. At the end of the day it is your decision what you wanna do. :dunno:

Either way, post lots of pictures. :thumb:

I bought and sold Breadvans from Pepsi and actually have no money in the engine, got the axles cheap and the blazer for $500, i figure parting it out at what ive been getting for 4BTs and then the axles with lockers i can get around $5500
I do have a lot of time into it but i actually like building just as much as wheeling, i'll probably keep the blazer and part out the pickup.
I did also buy another pickup just like it, so now i have 2 black 4x4 2000 GMC 3/4 tons with a 6.0, just trying to be like Shawn, minus all the destruction.

Thanks for reading!

You sound like me. I built my K10 just for the fun of it, and when I was done I quickly got bored with it. So I got another one. Just for the joy of building. None of my rigs accumulated very many miles this year. Or last year. The fixing is the fun part for me.

How much do you get for a 4BT? I have a small amount of interest in building one someday. But the price tag scares me off every time I look at them. :dunno:
