'83 K10 SB "L1TSBFIBBC" build

Wow health I just read this entire thread start to finish. Great job man you have one of the nicest trucks on here.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments.

I am at the point where I am just enjoying the truck the way it is for a while. Not sure if I will link the rear and cage it at some point, but in the meantime I just keep enjoying it the way it is. I only have about 5k miles on the engine now since its not a daily driver. It runs pretty good, puts a smile on my face every time. :D

Just read this thread though. While waiting for the DR.
Very nice build. And pm sent:waytogo:

We need more video.. got anything recent? Id like to hear this bad boy!

One time at the dunes heath pulled up next to me, and my blazer started running like $hit. Was all shaky and stuff.

Then I realized mine was running fine, but Heaths engine rumble and exhaust was literally shaking my blazer :haha:

With your experience with the radius arms, I wonder if you can give me your advice. I have been thinking about using radius arms as a means of converting my 2wd to 4x4. The issue is I only want to end up with about 2" of lift and I want to use coil springs instead of coil overs to facilitate the budget. Do you think a 2" lift height is doable? Moreover, do you think it would be worth it over just doing front leaf Springs?

IMO coil springs would be hard to package for the size. Coil overs could do what you want as you can run them up higher and then get the correct ride height. Also you can adjust height just with the coilovers.

IMO leaf springs to convert to 4wd from 2wd sounds like alot of work for a "meh" ride.

I think it could work but it would be a lot of work for not alot of gain since you wouldn't have much uptravel. If I did it again one thing I would change is a tighter crossmember. My crossmember would contact the pumpkin too soon so I only have 6.5" of uptravel. Although, with the crossover steering it was going to contact the frame about the same time anyway. So in order to do that and get some decent uptravel I think you would need to modify the frame.

As for coil springs, they are very large and once you start articulating and turning things everything starts getting in the way. You could probably do it, but it would likely require moving the shocks back onto the control arms or something. I looked into that but there really isn't a lot of room there unless you really limit the travel and articulation.

I would probably just get some soft leaves if you want a softer ride with only 2" lift. But it also depends on what you want to do with the truck.

No but I hope to make it to the dunes this year again, I'll try and get some video. Video of my driving to get parts from the metal supplier would be kind of boring. ha ha

On the asphault, my regal is much more interesting. :D

Thanks, and that is funny, not to often you are talking on the net and run into someone so local to where you grew up. I think you could of walked to my uncles house pretty easy. ha ha

Dude, the problem was still your blazer, it runs too much like stock. It needs a cam, heads, and some compression. :thumb:

Excellent! Liam must have watched it 10 times! Everytime you pulled the wheelie he smiled. Great stuff dood!

Beautiful child you have there.

When does the wagon get linked?

Thanks, and the wagon is already linked, it is setup with 0" of bump and 0" of droop.

She likes it better when you are moving, but she is more patient when you stop now usually, especially if you are still giving her attention.

Thanks. Kids like wheelies, even us big kids. :D

Hahaha that's cute!

Thanks Dude! Yesterday I want to a fathers day car show to meet my Dad and family, drove the regal with Camile and Anna. Afterword I did a burnout at my uncles farm in front of his shop before his party. I asked Camile what Anna did when I did the burnout, she said, "nothing, she thinks that's normal". :haha:

Pics or it didn't happen.

I don't have any pics of that. Closest thing I have is at the track...

I drove 90 minutes there to meet my brother with his 81 C10. We were just doing T&T that day, so ignore my 3 second reaction time as I was trying to get the launch right with the t-brake since I don't turn the bottle on all that often.

I did unbolt the collectors and stagger them after I got there, I pick up about 2 tenths in the quarter and it sounds meaner than it is. Just a mild 388 I built with a factory crank and rods and used iron heads back in 1996 on a high school budget. Still the same exact engine from intake to oil pan.

The cool thing is my brother is in the video too with his white C10 in the far lane. We just put a 4 link in that last summer.

Oh, and Jess, if you think a burnout won't happen at one of my families' parties, you don't know my family. :D

I personally can attest to the fact that his family does burnouts...

Yum...Byron...love videos of my "home" track... have you ever went to the World Wheel-Standing Championship in the fall?
Its pretty fun, the last time I went was right before I moved to Colorado. Or the first year a car flip over backwards.....ridiculous.
