'83 K30 - Budget build one ton

I want to get a black box for that truck one day . The black box is the best option for the 518 and 205 ,if I will ever do any thing with it ,needs a cage too .

budget got bigger

44-19.50-16.5 bogers and a blower ,used 12k warn winch ,all most done with the doubler crossmember and some more parts from diy . now how the hell do I steer this thing, the tires rub ? think I want to narrow the front and rear to help with clearance or I do have some 12in lift springs .

up to speed

Got it running ,new plugs, sand blasted ,painted ,ported the exhaust manifolds cuz I don't want to run headers ,new wires ,installed the psc power steering pump .Wanted to fab a rear drive line so I cut the ends off of a 3+3 drive line and got some tube from tom woods and fabed my own ,still cost 200+ with the tube and two 1350 u-joints ,I don't recommend doing this as it was a big pain in the a$$ . I am sick of being covered in grease after working on this pig so I gave it a good once over with the heated pressure washer before the next stage starts !

Let the cutting begin

cut the rad support up to the boxed section by the side of the radiator ,bashed the cab in past the hvac housing to clearance the fenders ,cut the fugly farmer front bumper off, and skinned the fenders .Going to build a sub-frame out of 1" pipe and hang the front fenders on that .same fore the hood with the small frame of 1" tube after I cut the **** out of it.:D

Looks great. I like it. How did you bash the cab in past the hvac housing to clearance the fenders? The picture doesn't show it well. Where are you going to mount the battery?

engine work

So I decided not to put the blower on this stock 2bolt main peanut port headed mid 80s 454 . I think it would blow up ,and the ports on the blower are way to big for the heads ,so I just want to warm it over with the new edelbrock performer manifold and the 770 holly ore,and some new valve covers and save the blower and build a engine that will handle some big power at a later date. With the fenders off it was a grate time to do the manifold and carb swap .Got it all done and bolted on and try to start it and the the carb sprayed gas out of the vent tube like one of those lawn sprinklers that go from side to side :sign27: removed the front bowl and the needle valve is just siting in the bottom of the float bowl with the spring ! original oner of the carb must have gave up on a rebuild and failed to let me know .called KGB and we got it to stop spraying in the wrong direction and it runs now ,looks a lot better than it runs .don't you just love them holleys, Ill get it figured out one day if it don't start my shop on fire .

cab modification - with sledge hammer in previous pic ,batteries ? maybe up by the fire wall on pass side ,don't have coin for the cable to put it in the bed (spent it all on the tires )

move plese

I think this thread should be moved to the (driveway) as it is more of a build thread ?

progress

geting some stuff done ,I had to take a little brake but now i am back at it .I started to build the tube sub frame for the front fenders but as soon as I started I broke the 1in tube bender form setting it up wrong . Got it welded back up and the sub frame is all but finished .The front clip will be removable by bolts for fender replacement and to remove the engine .
