Oven cleaner helped.
Hanging it over the parts washer with the engine hoist and putting the elbow grease to the 205 did the trick.

still a little grease here and there but I’ll get that when I tear into it.

had to go chase down a rear slip shaft seal, if you look at the pictures someone had the wrong seal there ‍♂️ Also got the brass bushing.

last night I got to thinking about the front output flange situation. I need a longer drive shaft made up so I have a couple of options.

1. just lengthen front shaft. Keep stock yokes
2. Use the 1350 ford shaft I have. Mill flange to fit, upgrade yoke at axle and shorten shaft to fit.
3. 1410 dodge shaft that bolts right to gm flange. Shorten. 1410 at axle.

Progress had been slow this year to say the least. But a few things happened that put things back in motion.

After a few months of complications Dad passed away at the end of October. Between that and having to reorganize my shed/garage to store some of the tools he left me I realized that I had more room than I thought I did if I would just get things installed into the truck and start moving forward.

So as it is the motor is now in the truck.
-The hydroboost and hydro clutch pedals and associated parts are hooked up.
-Radiator and core support hooked up.
-Diesel fan shroud and top radiator mounts installed.
-Tore into the steering column and replaced the key cylinder because I lost the other keys.
-Transmission and transfer case inspected and resealed.
-Converted the 205 to a non synchro setup and test fitted the ORD twin stick.

still have some minor odds and ends to clean up and install and should be able to fill with fluids and fire this thing off

did you mod the shift rail for FULL twin stick ability ? wish i had on my first twin stick setup . after running one thats modded for front drive only its so handy .

More slow progress. But, hoping to fire this thing off in the next week or so.

I needed to fab up something to hold the steering reservoir, out of The three junk yard cans I pulled none of them would do the job. So resorted to the PSC can I have had sitting around for who knows how long. The bracket I figured out is relatively light and I was worried it would wobble too much. But after hooking the hoses up it’s relatively solid. After the truck is running I may come back and tack a few supports on it.

Also mounted in the power steering cooler. The center brace of the core was removed by one of the PO’s prior but luckily I had a piece of flat aluminum sitting around.

Minor updates:
-Found the correct lower radiator hose. luckily it’s just a factory 73-87 big block part.
-8an 3/8 hose fittings came in. Power steering/hydroboost cooling system is good to go.
-aftermarket tach is wired in, just need to finish grounding it.
-Pulled the old electric fuel pump. New mechanical fuel pump, regulator, filter installed. Used some new 3/8” fuel line for the time being but this will eventually all go away. (I hope)
-siphoned out as much of the old gas in the tank as I could. Blew the old fuel lines out.
- pulled the np205 off the transmission and barely managed to get the sm465 bolted up. By myself and without all the proper tools this was a task. the crossmember is very very tight and just barely a hair off. I’m guess with the ORD engine crossmember and all new poly bushings everywhere things are very snug to say the least.

Taking a break today. My brains shot and body hurts like hell from laying/crawling on uneven concrete for two full afternoons s

Replacement pass side battery tray came in yesterday. Gotta patch the rusty spot on that fender where the bottom bolt goes but should be an easy enough fix.

I’ll have to get pics but there’s really not much else to see.

I had some 2000’s something model GM battery cables I grabbed from a pull apart, the type with the red box that holds a lug in it for jumping a vehicle off. Thought that was a worthwhile upgrade since I needed cables anyhow. The battery lugs also both have a wire running off of them where I can attach a fender mounted bus bar for attaching accessories. I already did the ground bar. Wasn’t sure how I would like it so hadn’t done the power bar yet.

Other than that, things are bolted up.
I do need to do a pinch fix on the junky exhaust just to get by but once that’s attached to the manifolds all I lack is fluids and turning it over.

Fingers crossed, next update will hopefully be that it’s running.
