'83 K5 6.2L Diesel 64" rear springs. 3/4 ton axles. rear discs. Boring but works!

Planning on not driving this in the snow this winter. I've decided to try and keep the salt off it and keep it nice so I swapped these almost wore out 265s on from the Ford I bought. Pretty sad looking compared to the 315s. KIMG0777.jpg

One of my neighbors has a round light sitting in his driveway with those mirrors so I’ll say yes! If you want to put in an offer on his truck let me know and I’ll be happy to holler at him!

Changed my oil this weekend. Ran the engine for a little after and then popped off the radiator cap to check antifreeze. There was still some in my overflow tank. It was full but all foamy. Fired up the engine with no cap and it was slowly bubbling and running over. Engine was mostly cold at that point. I got video but too large for my phone to upload I guess. Not too worried about it as it was full. I'll just keep driving it.
I am not very happy with my grease able suspension bolts though. One pressed in zerk popped out so I'll have to drill and tap for a thread in zerk and most of the others either wouldn't take grease or were very difficult to get grease into them. Not sure if I need to unload the suspension and try again.

That tends to happen with the greasable bolts. I have one I can't get grease in now and it's happened to me on other projects.

Yeah if I ever have them apart I might try modifying things to get them to work a little better. For now I'm just doing the minimum on stuff til I get a house and garage again. I need to start collecting parts to replace my entire power steering system before Blazer Bash.

I was browsing power steering parts on Rock Auto(I will most likely buy through my local Carqwest or Napa). Should I try to change my steering gear input seal for less than 10 bucks or do a reman gear for like $125 or so? I've done tons of input seals on semis so no biggie on actually doing it just not sure if it will actually fix it? Also does anyone know the correct spline or part number for the steering shaft coupler? I'm seeing two different ones listed through them.

I don't know about the spline count, sorry.

I have changed the input seal on several leaky boxes and had it be a successful repair. Mine is leaking right now too. I'm planning to rebuild my whole box and drill/tap for hydro assist.

Good to hear. I don't want to do a new 4wd box in case I go to cross over some day and I don't want a 2wd box cuz I'm not ready for cross over. Guess I'll try a seal when I get around to replacing all my steering stuff soon.

I swapped the 4wd sector shaft for a 2wd sector shaft in my box without issue when i went to crossover steering on my truck. I did have to adjust the sector shaft preload/gear clearance but it was easy. I was able to do it without even pulling the box off the frame.

My problem is opposite, lots of room and no monies. Trying to pay things off fast so I can build a house and also working on buying a farm. Oh and I have two big vacations less than 2 months apart this summer.

Worked on this for a few min. Been wanting to flip the air cleaner lid for more air but they mount with 2 studs and they are too short(unlike on a gas engine). I am just going to lengthen them since they are special and hold the egr valve in. They are also metric. Found some correct bolts to use for lengthening so I pulled the studs and egr valve. Gonna make a block off plate for egr also while I'm at it. I already deleted the solenoid to valve line so it does nothing anyway. KIMG0038.jpg KIMG0039.jpg
