83K5_blazer (she’s back!)

Rust repair and trying to un-f*ck everything the PO's had done.
Decided to pull the hood and start sanding on it today to get the crap primer and surface rust off of it. After getting into it, I found out that it's not the original hood. The factory color of the truck is midnight blue and the hood was a nasty brown under the several shades of primer. I managed to get the primer and surface rust off before my back started hurting and hung it up for the night. Here is the progress so far.

Here's one of the truck without the hood. You can see the mess of "custom" wiring by the PO along the firewall.

Holiday lull is fairly normal. Weather gets better, so do the threads
Haha! I just noticed we will have high 60's, low 70's towards the end of the week. I'm hoping to start on some of this panel replacement if it sticks around.

What part of Missouri are you from?

Looks like a nice start so far.

So I just realized the RH rocker panel I ordered from Classic Industries is actually a LH and it's even labeled as a RH. Am I missing something or is this actually labeled wrong?

I work for an aftermarket sheet metal company, and getting LH and RH mixed up happens more that people realize. Did they get the problem corrected yet?

Thanks! I'm just east of Kansas City.

I emailed them Sunday night/ Monday morning and haven't heard anything yet. I may just have to call them. I'd just keep it but I've got the same panel on its way from Tabco.

Well next time you need some patch panels let me know, I get a good deal on parts from Goodmark/keystone. And we have a store in KC.

Also, we'll have to meet up sometime.

Damn! Where at in KC? I need a couple left rear quarter patches.

Just got my LH Tabco outer rocker in and damn! The quality is so much better than the stuff everyone else sells that is made in Taiwan! The one I got from Classic Industries (same as LMC and most of the others) flexes and twists like crazy just holding it. This one from Tabco is solid!

@GWeakland620 , I will still have to try out the Goodmark stuff.

Had some nice weather today and decided to start on some of the body work. One of the PO at some point, had punched a hole in the right fender for an antenna and it looked like sh*t.

I still had some 16ga laying around for the patch. I cut out around the hole and used my new hammer and dolly set to match the curve of the fender.

After just a few minutes, I had the perfect fit for the patch piece. I got everything mocked up and ready to weld it. Pulled my tig out of the garage, cleaned up the tungsten and turned my gas on. ...and I was out of gas. This is the way my luck goes. Time to get a new bottle.

Mine is in the same boat. Wirenuts, everything done in the same color wire, toggle switches for stuff that could have been fixed by a fuse etc. I know your pain .

Yep only thing I have left is I've got a weird lighting issue, just gonna have to test everything. Front drivers blinker doesn't work but rear does, rear pass doesn't work but front does. It's very strange
