83K5_blazer (she’s back!)

Rust repair and trying to un-f*ck everything the PO's had done.
Dude I don't know, but I can tell you right now there were several wires that were running down to the starter (That Chevy used as a hot terminal) that had bare spots on them at least an inch long. The whole truck was a rolling fire waiting to happen.

Hahaha! Damn! I haven't even really touch any of the extra wires under the hood. I'm not looking forward to it.

Nice progress, I'm glad I'm not the only one that had wiring issues. The wiring in mine left one thing working properly....the drivers headlight.
I really don't want to get a replacement wiring kit but it would be a lot easier in the long run.

I've been kicking around a full wiring harness but mine seems to be ok except for the aforementioned weird turn signals. I may do it downthe road however. I'd spend the money on a veh specific kit however, I'd love to have blade fuses instead of glass too

Id like to do a vehicle specific kit but I'd rather spend $200 than $600ish. I've been looking at this one:

I'm checking with manufacturers to see what I can get for pricing for universals. It looks like it ranges from ~$60 for a 12 circuit universal up to $175 for a 20+ circuit not including shipping. I'm not sure if I could make due with a 12 circuit but for the price I might make due. If there's interest in something for that price I can see what it would take to get them imported. This makes me think I should put together a CK5 package with directions and include things like looms/connectors.

It's been in the 70's all week and now I have snow.. I'm ready for this weather to break so I can actually start working on this thing. And the best part, I haven't had time to put the top back on.

Let me know what you find out. I would be interested and I would imagine others on here would be as well.

I totally get not wanting to drop 600 on a kit. The painless is only 489 however.

I feel it's worth it if it's really chewed up though.

Well, I may be renaming this to '72 or '75 K5 Resto.. I just posted my '83 because I recently came across a '72 and a '75 (full vert, which is what I really wanted) and if I can sell my '83 I will be going with one of those. I really want the '72 but it looks rough in the pics but so does the '75. The '75 doesn't have pics of the floor but the posting says "little rust" but there is no telling what that means without looking at it. I guess I'll find out soon. I'm guessing I will only get scan and spam from my posting. I'll update as soon as I find out.

The passenger side is done! At least with sanding and priming. It doesn't look like much but the whole right side, hood and tailgate has been completely striped down to metal and primed. I now know where my problem spots are (that's why I didn't even touch the rocker panels). Hopefully next weekend I can start cutting out and replacing rockers and floors.

Speaking of rockers. I got my replacement outer rocker from Classic Industries in yesterday. ...not impressed. I will say they shipped it free of charge and I know people make mistakes but it was still messed up to a certain extent. I ordered a RH outer rocker the first time and was sent a LH rocker, labeled as a RH with two stickers. The replacement was a RH rocker and labeled as a RH on the outer sticker and a LH on the inner sticker. Anymore panels I order will be from https://tabcoparts.com/ . Their panels are much better quality and heavier gage steel.
