83K5_blazer (she’s back!)

Rust repair and trying to un-f*ck everything the PO's had done.
That setup you got there is good, plus they are parts meant to work together pretty well, the EPS manifolds imho are better than the run o mill performer mainly because you don't have to run an adapter for a Holley.

If you read some and take the time to dial in the Holley it'll do 90% of what your asking it to do.
That seems to be the consensus after everything I've read. I've always been an edelbrock guy but after reading up on the combination, I decided to go with the 4160. The price helped too! Haha! I've been thinking about getting a spacer but after looking into it, it doesn't look like it would end up doing much for the price.

I got my throttle cable bracket in today, along with the new thermostat housing (didn't like the other one). I love this throttle bracket! Slowly but surely it's coming together. And a pic of the truck for good measure, it got a little wet last night.

Did you touch the front floor support in your rocker repair? Also how was the door to rocker alignment after you were done? It looks like you did not brace the A frame. Did it sag on you? Thanks for the write up. I'm doing this same job myself.

Amazingly the floor supports were clean. I cut the spot welds on them to remove what was left of the inner rock but that was it.

The alignment seemed to be as close to perfect as I could get. I haven't noticed any sagging issues but with the steel top and floor support that runs parallel to the frame, there shouldn't be a whole lot of movement.

awesome work man! Nice write up. i did my cab corners in my blazer but the rockers are starting to go, so it was awesome to see the process i have ahead. Trucks looking good man keep givenR!

Thanks! I need to get out and finish the floor and rocker repair while the weather is still good but my work schedule hasn't left me with much time to do it. I'd like to do a full write up on it once I'm done to help people out. I've seen a few on here but it looks like most of them are just before and afters. I'm trying to document the whole process while I do it.

All I'm waiting on now is the pipe plugs and gaskets and this is ready for its new home! Now to find a good set of heads!

Not much progress lately. I went today and picked up my new block. 010 4 bolt std. bore. I need to take it in and have it cleaned up and the water jacket plugs removed. For some reason it won't start. Haha! Last picture is me wishing it was already done.

So I’m tired of f*cking with this old Quadrajet and this truck running like shit so this happened today. This is probably over kill but it’s kind of a step by step process via pictures. It’s not done yet but hopefully I’ll finish it up tomorrow. It started getting cold and rainy and I’ve had enough of that this week.

Done! I want to fire this up so bad right now and piss all my neighbors off! But, I guess I’ll wait till I get off work tomorrow... I just hope it runs as good as it looks. It’s so much cleaner and less vac lines running all over now. Now I need to get after that wiring.

Thanks! I screwed up the first time and found TDC but it was not on the compression stroke. It runs so much better now, other than the trans needs to be set.

Here is a sneak peek of what is coming this spring!
Should be getting the top the week after next. Thanks again @LNielson and @blazinzuk !

I managed to get a lot accomplished in the last four days! Today I focused on the hacked up wiring (finally). I installed new battery cable ends, installed missing grounds and found out the last two alternators where the wrong type. I got the proper “one-wire” and installed it and it’s amazing how bright my lights are now! I also found out that the last time I had my gauge cluster off, I installed the plug upside down. Nothing worked and I figured it was just more electrical gremlins rearing their heads.

New alt. and new alt. wiring with an added ground, just incase. (This was before I moved that heavy ground to the frame rail.)

The replacement grounding strap from the firewall to the block. (This one was cut off and left dangling off the firewall)
