Well I started getting some ideas for what I wanted to do for mounts. First I started out by cutting out some plates.

Here they are kind of bolted to the block.

After that I decided to make some templates to see what I could come up with for the block. Ive decided I am going to try to put the mounts at a 45 deg angle

As you can see I used a piece of wood to act as the cross member. I am thinking about welding a kind of bracket to the cross member to meet up with the mount for some extra oil pan clearence but I am trying to mount the motor pretty low so I will have to get the block in the frame and see how things fit.

That seems like it would work. I would tie the two vertical cardboard pieces together as well. Where is the actual rubber mount going to go?

In between the piece of metal and the card board. This isn't set in stone because things will probably has to be different depending on how low I mount the motor and all of that.

I actually have enough room on the outsides of the carboard to make gussets that go to the main plate so I might do that. But this is all up in the air till I drop the motor in the truck and actually see what I can do.

I am still waiting on some parts before I can start mocking up the motor so I decided to mess with some stuff on the motor.

The first thing I wanted to get figured out was the throttle cable. Ive seen people use a dodge throttle cable, but this motor is set up a lot different than a dodge one so the throttle cable would not have worked. I had a extra chevy cable laying around so I decided to try to make that work. So I made this little bracket.

And here it is installed.

The cable does not look straight, but it becomes straight once you start to pull on the cable. Just plugging away a the little things till I can finally start to mount the motor and transmission.

Well I finally got the correct 12v adapter plate and also got a bell housing for the transmission.

Next step is to start mounting it up. Everything will get painted later, but its starting to get cold and I cant heat my shop so painting is going to have to wait. Once I get the motor mounted I am going to pull the cab and make the transmission cross member and then start working on all the small stuff I need to do to get this thing running. I have to run all new brake lines, fuel lines, and install a 40 gallon burb tank in the back.

Tonight I went ahead and set the motor in so that I can start fabbing up mounts. I have the motor setting on 4 jack stands and still have my chain hoist holding up on it some but it looks to be right where I need it.

Planning on trying to get the transmission and transfercase bolted up behind it this weekend and then start making the mounts. Not sure how I am going to do this just yet as I dont have a transmission jack, but I have used my shop crane to put my sm465 and np205 in this truck before so I may try that again.

Well started making the mounts, my first plan was not going to work so I have started a new idea. So far so good.

There will be a lot of gussets added so it will be strong. Hoping to get these finished and then make a removable cross member soon.

Got the mounts made today. Went a little different than what I was starting out with. Took 2x4x1/4 tubing and cut the top part off and made my mounts.

I will be putting gussets on the bottom as well for added strength. Next thing to do is make the transmission cross member then I will pull the drive train out and fully weld all of the mounts then I'm going to drop the drive train back in and figure out something for an engine cross member.

Well I have finally gotten some stuff done to the truck this past week. First I had to make a mount that went from the transmission to the transmission mount and then i made the cross piece for the cross member.

I then needed to connect the cross member to the frame so I made these 1" slugs with 2 1/2 inch holes in them for the bolts.

And here is the whole thing tacked in.

The brackets on the frame will be gusseted so it should hold pretty well.

I found a guy with a dodge dana 60 out of a 91 for $700 that will be going in this dually.

Did you have a dana 60 for this? This one is cheap(ish).

Turns out it is exactly as I need. Dually and 4.10 gears. Now I just need to find some 16.5 dually wheels once I pick up the axle.

Got the drive train pulled and welded up the the mounts. Dropped the motor back in to make sure that the mounts would hold the weight.

Yeah I agree it will be worth it! I really like how your truck turned out man! Mines been in the works for two years now Ive changed plans to many times haha. But I'm finally getting things in line.
