Can always keep a piece of flat plate with you for the jack. Maybe have a pin or some loose bolts/holes.

I keep a couple small 2x6's with me, I could drill some holes in those so they could work as a base if needed. That's probably worth the couple minutes of effort.

Been plugging away on the timely and tedious process of rewiring part of the truck. I welded some trick tabs to cage and built a panel that will be the new home for some gauges, start/accessory switches along with usb/cig ports, horn button, heater controls and windshield wiper switch. I mocked the panel on a piece of maso, found a few things that needed to change and then used that template to transfer it to aluminum. I should be receiving the last gauge today (oil psi) so I can finish the last few connections. I ran wire from the front of truck through the inside cab for the trans fan, Siderack 6" LED bars and the new horns. Also ordered a tuffy security center console with the single din stereo compartment, more on that later....

Yea, Im down, been getting my fix at hollister lately...I want to rock crawl soon.

Bent a couple brackets for the center console using my new swag finger brake. The front bracket is welded to the cage and the back is bolted to the floor using the seat belt threaded holes in the floor. I used some anti-squeak adhesive padding I had left over from the gas tank between the console and the brackets.

I have same console in my blazer and my daily. Not sure I could live without it.

I could see why and I have a place for a head unit now so it's a win win.

Last night I was able to replace the OE oil pressure sending unit and the temp sensor with the autometer sensors. I'm keeping the OE wiring for those and I'll splice into them at the old cluster.

Spent the majority of Saturday sorting through chassis wiring and troubleshooting a couple issues that popped up. When I removed the steering column I lost the high beam switch so that left the headlight circuit open. I was able to verify they work properly using the yellow wire from the switch connected to the low or high circuit. Ended up buying a painless floor switch for the low/high beam selection. Also fixed the brake light switch, that needed a new 12v source and I had to track down the brake/turn lamp wires and tie those to the switch. Some other issues popped up that ended up being grounds that were lost in the removal of the cluster wiring. Also ran new signal wires to the oil pressure and temp sensors since I wanted those sleeved. I have a few more power wires to tie into the fuse box then I should be able to connect everything to the back of the panel.

I drilled the holes and mounted the panel too.
