Yeah the wiring looks simple enough and I assume the 12v is coming from the fuse box right there.

funny about the horn....
 
My kick down never worked and I never got around to doing the research to figure out how it worked. Now I know! Too bad my kickdown is now in the form of a third peddle and a shifter through the floor.

The crank wasn't done Friday as promised so I continued on with other stuff keeping this project moving forward.

Drilled out the thermostat housing hole that was butchered by the PO, tapped and installed a helicoil with a little JB weld

Knocked down the fins on my Mickey Thompson valve covers, these make me happy. Need to do a little touch up with some sandpaper and a block a wood but they're close.

and some other parts, some sandblasted prior to painting for a better finish.

received a bunch of parts last week including the rest of my rod bearings so I *think I'm ready to assemble once the crank is done. Took a couple pics of the dampner for @wetoolowdingbangow that I can share.

Yesterday I spent some time stripping the front shocks, ferd towers and a bunch of crap off the firewall including all of the HVAC and the diesel firewall mat that was rubbing the distributor.

Originally I planned on trying to convert this firewall over to a non-ac setup however after looking at all the work that would require I decided to patch it up and run a Summit heater. This will also free up some additional space and allow me to run a battery on the firewall.

Me too. I bought them at the Pomona swap meet a few years ago so I'm excited to see them finally get used.


I'm debating painting the edelbrock manifold. I've spent too much time trying to clean it and it still looks like crap. I thought about buying some glass media but then I remember it's an offroad rig!

In the same boat with the manifold. Itll probably end up chevy orange.
 
yeah that's the way I'm leaning too, my Dad's 56 is done like that so the EFI looks OE at a quick glance.

The orange VHT dries pretty quick, that was a nice surprise since the black satin takes a good 6-8hrs to harden up.
 
Awesome build!! How you liking the m16s? Plan on ordering tires soon and torn between those and Irok radials.

The M16's have done well and I've had no issue with them on the street which was important to me. I just happen to run across them for $250, it wasn't a tire I was looking at before I bought them. The Irok will perform better on the trail, it really comes down to what you're going to use the truck for.
 
Wish I could find a deal on tires like that! Mines going to see a good bit of street, trails and some mud (hunting club and lack of rocks locally). Really dont want to drop 1500 on tires and be disapointed.
 
I don't think I would go with an Irok given that intended purpose. Lots of other better tires IMO
