I used a router when I did mine too. Works great!
I put them on my 07 dodge. Shhhh don't tell anyone.I don't remember having to do anything to make mine fit.

Odd. I just used a wire brush to clean the rust off of my Dana 60 hubs, and slid them on. Definitely a tight fit though.

Last night when I was looking things over I found an area that could be a potential weak spot.

Option 1 and I box a short section so I can still access the bolts for the A-Bomb

Or option two and I cut a couple 1/4" gussets that slide in between the two backing plates
