I went through my photos from when I installed the 32 spine front output and JB Rails and confirmed I did not remove the rear output therefore the shift fork cannot be in backwards. However another thought came to mind, is it possible I have the shift rails swapped?

Jon and I have been chatting more and he says the rails look correct and he said the front should be in neutral when shifting the rear into high. I need to double check that tonight......

Ah man now I'm getting scared at the prospect of having all those levers. I might hurt my little brain.

Got the rear output in high. Not sure what exactly did it but I think it had something to do with the front output being in neutral while I rotated a rear tire with my foot. I pulled the PTO cover off for inspection and watched the collar/shift fork slide back and forth. Tomorrow I'll seal it up, fill it with oil and make a few adjustments so the rear and front sticks line up better.

Huge relief to say the least.

If I remember you ran those adjustable detents? I remember adjusting mine quite a bit to make my 205 shift correctly. 205s are kinda a bear to shift even when working properly.

yes I'm running adjustable detents. I backed the rear adjuster out quite a bit and it didn't make a difference. After adjusting the cables last night so the front and rear shifters line up better I found that the front has to be in neutral to move the rear into high. Makes sense and that's how I would use it on the trail anyway.

It wouldn't go between 2h and 4h at all?

Kinda sounds familiar. If I recall correctly, I basically backed out the detents so that they gave very very little resistance while I adjusted the cables for full throw. The only thing that sucked about doing it that way was the tendency for the shift rails to move/wander into "locked" position so that I could not shift at all (you can't have the front input in "low" while the rear is in "high").

I also remember almost ditching the 203/205 in favor of an atlas because it was so much of a pain in the ass to get adjusted properly.

the rear will go into H or L but the front must be in neutral for me to get the rear in H. So, I just need to make sure the front it in neutral when shifting the rear, which I would usually do anyway.

the 205's can be a little bitch sometimes for sure.

It sounds like your interlock pins are working. I know that the shift rails get different notches in them to allow 2 low and front only, but u believe that it will still dummy proof things.

yeah I think so. It all works now that I know how to shift the case :woot:

Last couple nights I was able to get the headlights, taillights, brake lights wired and working. Installed the trim, bezels and parking lights so most of the front end is back together with exception of the grill which I need to massage for the derale trans cooler. I also installed an aftermarket summit overflow tank and I've gone through and completed about 80% of my nut and bolt checks. I called Jesse to see if I can get the yokes early and it looking like those should be ready Tuesday, possibly Wednesday with the new shaft. I'm taking off for a couple days for Tahoe but I'll be back Sunday to stuff the 40's under the truck and start on this

:hack:

and the plan is to drive it Monday through Thursday to work and around town before I take off Friday AM camping with it.

Here I was just thinking it's nice that you're back so I have a little more reading to do when I check CK5 and now you're saying you're taking time away from the build again to go to Tahoe. :frown1:

trust me, I'd much rather be working in my garage than going to a wedding.
