I haven't tied my slider to the frame on this truck or the K5. Never had a problem with it in 12yrs.

until you put a cage in, then you will want the sliders and cage tied into the frame.

@GWeakland620 I did 2x6 on my k5. I liked the width out past the fenders. Plus if I did it again I think you could cut in a step and replace it so that you wouldn't have to add a side tube for a step
That's a damn good idea..
The steps on the sliders are kinda funny when you consider the step is only an inch or two lower than the cab floor. Being 6'4" I just grab the drip rail or pillar and step in. It can get weird on the trail sometimes but that inch or two doesn't make a difference for me personally.
Every inch matters when you're old and fat.....
however carry a very small and light 30" or so aluminum ladder with me normally in case I need to wrench on the engine.
