Hahahaha. That is great. How's the low gearing?
Had a little issue on Saturday that I should probably note. On my way to my buddies house (20 min drive) I completely lost my power steering. It was as if a switch was flipped, and I no longer had power. No noise, nothing out of the ordinary, plenty of fluid so I decided to limp it over to my buddies house and let it cool down. Waited 30-45 minutes or so and still had no power steering so I made the decision to drive it back home, I was obviously pretty pissed about it. About a mile from his house it came back, again like a switch was flipped but I didn't trust it so I drove all the way home. Back at home and after a short conversation with my friends we decided to go anyway, all was good until I was on that last obstacle (before last two pipes) and I lost power again. I was on a pretty steep incline, rear bumper on the ground so I'm starting to wonder if I'm getting air in the system somehow. When I bumped the pipe with some skinny pedal it came back (right before the video I posted). @Bent77 mentioned a valve in the pump that could get stuck, in theory this makes sense.
can the ram suck in air? It's the only used piece on this whole system.
I had this happen to me a few years back... I re-bled the system and it came back only to have it come back an hour later. My problem ended up being heat. I added a better cooler and never had an issue again.
The PS fluid was HOOOOTTTT but the engine temp was pretty cool. It failed while driving on logging rd just after some slow crawling. I pulled over for 30 mins or so to re-bleed then to the next trail only to have it lock up again.
I went from a tube and fin type cooler to one of the "log" style coolers in front of the radiator and a PSC reservoir. No issues after that.
I could touch the pump with my hand, it wasn't hot.
Hmmmm... Mine was HOOOOOOOOT.
I'd guess you have air entering the system somehow then. Any leaks? Might check the return side as there wouldn't be as much pressure there to push out as much fluid. Can you see the fluid in the res? Any bubbles?
hmmmmmm. Debris is the system?
Just kinda thinking out loud...
Messed up pressure relief dumping all fluid back to res?
I'm not sure if it's in the pump or the gear?possible
is that in the pump?
