That totally makes sense.

That’s helluva water crossing! What river or stream turned river is that?

Fordyce Creek, 2nd crossing. It was flowing 480 CFS that day. River ran through the truck, our asses got wet and our beverages floated out of the tuffy console cup holders :rotfl:

Wrenched all day yesterday knocking items off the list. The list of items left to fire off include rad support, rad hoses, one heater hose, coolant, intake piping/MAF, battery and both power wires for the PCM.

With a little luck the engine will fire off today.

Locating radiator hoses was quite the task today. Finally found a couple hoses that worked, added coolant and it leaked out. It appears the bottom output is cracked where is meets the radiator tank. It’s a 454 brass radiator so it’s probably fixable if I can locate a radiator shop.

After that mess I kicked the starter over and it ran for a second or two and died. I cranked it again and the battery was very weak. The 7 year old optima called it quits.

Shortly after I was looking for fuel leaks and noticed the number 5 injector was unplugged. Then I found number 7 was unplugged too. That’s probably why it died. I’ll pickup a new battery tomorrow and figure out a radiator option.

I already know what I'm doing with my radiator hoses. Lower will be a regular old 454 (7.4L) lower hose. Upper will be the normal old 8.1L upper. Should fix me right up.

The 454 lower wouldn’t work, the water pump input is clocked differently. The upper 8.1L hose was close enough (after cutting it down) however my radiator input is smaller so I needed a 1.5” to 1.25” reducer.

If you find a rad shop to fix yours you can have them change the upper to 1.5. I had mine changed when I recored it a couple years ago. Little far for you, but Victors radiator in Pomona. Or Any Radiator in Havasu. Bet @imiceman44 knows of shop closer to you.

I tried to have a brass radiator, recored about a month ago for Chloe. A1 radiator here in the 801 wanted over $800 to do it.
I just said screw it, bought the aluminum 4 core online. I had to build custom mounts for it, but, it looks good and should work well.
Anyway,I thought 8 bills was a lot of money for what effectively was a used radiator.

Just had my dad's Ranchero core replaced. Brass high efficiency core 3 row up from 2. 119 rows and more fins per inch. Up from 60 rows.
105° outside, ac on temp guage just at the warm mark.

Mine might have been done in 20 upgraded core and 4 rows $465. Cash no tax.
Had 2 done in 22, my Bronco got a new core, really needed it was 2" of mud on the bottom.
The rv had cleaned, rodded, and upper neck repaired. Was over $900 for those 2.
Even though the bronco isn't road worthy, I was afraid Victor was going to retire, and be sol for brass radiator work.
Skunked, hang on to that rad in case the aluminum doesn't work out.

The aluminum will work i got one with the 454 and one with the turbo diesel but if the brass radiator needs minor work I would hold on to it.
