84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
Actually we swapped batterys at least 4 times.. And I have mad butt connection skills..

I made two laps!!! Heck yea!! And damn this has low gearing. Must be 4:10 and that 208 makes low range low gear stupid slow.. I can see why you guys like these motors now.. Grunty

I loved my 6.2, SM 465, 205, 4.56's on 40's in Moab. The vast majority of technical areas I'd drop it in first gear low range, let the clutch out and steer. The governor on the 6.2 controls maximum engine speed, but it also controls idle speed. Try and pull down the rpms in gear and it will add in enough fuel to maintain idle speed. this means it'll climb some pretty amazing stuff without any throttle input...as long as the clutch doesn't slip. It's so easy to wheel elegantly with a 6.2 and manual trans...

I could totally see this being the goto crawl motor with a turbo.. I had no idea.. Damn now I wish I woulda saved that cucv motor.. Live and learn I guess.

Yep first time I crawled with mine it was very eye opening.

700 with a 241. Once I had 4.56s even better

I'm havin a ball with this truck, I replaced the bad break line.. I musta got the year wrong because the caliper has a round casting around the banjo bolt.. After 20mins of grinding I got the new line to fit. The other lucky deal was bleeding. I was alone, I filled the master up, opened the bleeder, and pumped it a few times till I heard it pissing, tightened the bleed screw, pumped it till I got good pedal then opened the bleed again and let the air out and gravity bled it till really no bubbles could be seen. Bam breaks work awesome.. Wtf I must be lucky with this one.

Cruised around the property with my drag for almost 2 hours, didn't ever go over 200degrees.

Dumped a half qt of atf in the tank to free up the governor, it was sticking causing the truck to stall. That's good now. Damnit Martin is right, I should toss plates on it a drive the sumbitch. Crawls like all get out, shifts really nicely, doesn't make any weird noises. Suprised the hell outa me.. Officially in love with this truck... Damn diesels.. Damn Chevys..

Good feeling, eh? :thumb:

So Jesse came over and went for a ride, I haven't had it on any paved surface so this was cool, and boy is she slow, hahaha, damn I need boost like yesterday, seriously though it'll be fine for normal stuff but I can't see towing much very fast. Decent daily driver though.
