84 k5 blazer

Received parts today, excited until I opened one of the boxes to inspect the ring and pinion to see some wear marks and marking compound on it. Looks like I got someone else's returned set that they installed and returned. Called them and they were going to send out another one tonight.

That's nice. I bet they would be fine, but you have no idea till you get it all together. Good thing they are sending you a new set.

Gears

Well the work has been started on replacing my gears......so mad now. The fender says it has 3.73 ratio gears and what did I find????? 3.07 gears in them. Man do I hate the PO. Front end is done and hopefully the rear will be done tomorrow. Oh yea, forgot to add that I need new axles in the rear. I wish I just got some 3/4 axles and swapped them in. Oh well, maybe next time.

The fender says it has 3.73s? That doesn't make sense. Am I missing something?

I knew when I bought the truck that I could tell some one had been in the diff's before due to the rtv that was used. Guess they were trying to get better fuel mileage. Just found out that they make an off-set Bearing for the rear, so I am going to use those and re-use the old axles.

I'm still here, nothing new to the blazer since the 456 gears I put in. Been busy with other stuff lately. I need to renew my membership, figure I would wait until I get to working on the blazer again.

Aight just wonderin

454 is in

I have been working on the 454 install the past few days as I had time. Motor is in, all bolted up. New Hooker Headers and P/S Pump. Waiting on a few parts to include a new radiator. Did not know that I had to change so much to get this to work. I went to bolt the flexplate to the converter today and yep, you guessed it......bolts do not line up. I refuse to pull the motor out again. Guess I will unbolt the trans and slide it back enough for me to get to the bolts to take it off. I just ordered the proper flexplate that will work.
