'84 K5 Build (Midlife Crisis)

Im also questioning that (new) thermostat. I might pull it out just to see how it does.
The base timing was at 10 btdc when i originally set it.

10 should be ok, I think I'm at 15 base. My first move would be to pull that t-stat out.

Honestly, I'm tired of working on this piece of shit.
This engine has been a constant chase of one thing after another.

That's too bad. You are correct about the Gen V's being a pile, over the years we have had a lot of issues with them. Trying to keep them cool is one of them.

Agree 15 inch fans will not pull enough air.

Get Windstars
I looked them up and it looks like its a 15" and 13" fan totaling 4400 cfm. My flexalites are two 15" at 5500 cfm. I dont know. They cool my 400 hp small block but cant cool a 200hp big block?

That just angle iron in the first pic?

I would like to add a nice drain that is easy but safe to use for drain on bottom of radiator and put them in the block. Just not figured out how to around the knock sensor.

Lol yeah just 1" angle iron.
My old petcock had a nipple you could put a hose on but not this one.

So I pulled the thermostat and started it and let it idle. This time the fans cycled on and off two times. They had never shut off before. So that is definitly an improvement. Granted the sun had gone done already but it was still over 100 outside. It did get up to "210" on the gauge when we went to the desert but it seemed like it was holding. I am reserving judgement till I get longer test drive in the heat of the day.

I run my BBC through the mountains with ambient temps 105+ and I won't break 195. Granted the difference could be gauge calibration. when do your fans turn on?
