'84 SWB build - Riverbilly Beater

Keep the overloads, they help keep your springs from going negative during articulation. If you take em out your springs will w and you'll start cracking leafs (ask me how I know :doah: )

That's some good advice. I noticed too that when the springs go flat they act like bump stops and keep the tires out of the bed guess I'll leave them on there.

How are y'all running your shocks?

Nice build. I'm gonna follow this one as I have a 77 thats a twin to what you started with. Same shade of dog sh!t brown too!

I'd say most are running inboard shocks like this,

When I got the truck, it had 'this truck is the color of poop' written in the Dust on the dash! Haha that's why it's unofficial name is the 'turd'

I'm with Martin on the steelies and hubcaps, I'm probably one of the few that love brown too. I'd love to paint a truck that color someday. Nice work I'm watching!

Tore apart the 14 bolt to change from 3.73 to 4.10's. I plan on doing a doubler down the road so the th350/np205/4.10's should be plenty to push my truck around till I need the gear reduction.

There was a whole ton of crap in the axle tubes, idk what the hell it was mainly rust and crud. Got it all pushed out with a prybar and a rag

And I got my gears all set up. I opted to mini spool it I found one for 90$ compared to wasting time welding it all up. So here it is with the 4.10's in

Also I started tearing apart the wiring, and tore all of the HVAC out of the truck. I did want to keep the heater and defrost but everything was tore up so I just ripped it all out

Im thinking of removing the wiring harness and just putting a switch panel in it. My family is all drag drag racers so it kinda fits, plus I've always thought they looked cool. It's a trailer only rig so it's not gonna be dot. I'm thinking 8 switched ought to be plenty, one for ignition, start, electric fans, and then have several left over for lights :)

Also I ran the trans lines to the bed to a seperate trans cooler. Hopefully should control temps better

Also I found a spare tire, don't really need one but I figured when you do you do, it's a 38.5 gumbo monster mudder for 40$ on a 16.5 wheel. The 80's are back baby!!!

With all of the HVAC stuff removed I have a gaping rusty hole from the leaky heater core. Either it's gonna be a good hole to throw my beer cans out, or it makes a perfect place to make a block off plate and mount an air cleaner under the dash for a snorkel. This truck will be playing in some water too... Hence the riverbilly name

Makes you love oklahoma. That spot on the firewall is the only spot of rust on the entire truck. Cab corners and rockers are in great shape; except I'm gonna cut them out of it when I boatside this thing.

Removed all the wiring in the truck, I ordered a wiring harness/switch panel from painless.

Build a block off plate and my snorkel.

And I mounted a new trans cooler and bent some new lines

Finished the snorkel and block off plate and put on a ORD sticker for fun. Time to do brake lines

Looking good. I'm a little over an hour away from stillwater. If you're ever out running anything but water let me know.

I run everything man. Like playing at the river, need to go play at Disney pretty soon. There's some good places around Stillwater with trails too, I've been cutting some on my dad's 160 too

Cool, let me know and maybe we can meet up somewhere. I like to run the river when its down but I try to stay out of the water. Repacking bearings gets old.
