'85 C30 now a K20 - Grandpa's Truck

its never been in a vehicle just fired on the stand, were not even sure if the cams been broke in :dunno:, so im going to play it safe and break everything in like its new. "used" isnt the word for it cause its never actually been used in a vehicle, id call it more like prebuilt lol.

Im gunna leave the diesel governor in it for now and see how it acts, if i dont like it then ill get a gas one:

No slam intended, but your typing/spelling muddled the post quite a bit...seems I got confused :dunno: :thumb:
Thought you were saying governer when you meant converter :doah:

Im pretty sure your not going to like the diesel converter. My cousin once did a swap much like you. His would do the 1-2 shift way too soon even when floored. the 2-3 was ok though. He got over it by just manually shifting it when he wanted to.

A few posts back he said he did put a gas torque converter in, and i'm almost positive that the governers are different, however a very simple job to swap one in.

Thanks for the clarification 79rustyk5 lol no harm intended to everyone else but at least were on the same page :haha:. and ya i figured the GOVERNORS were different but i might as well TRY the diesel GOVERNOR and if i dont like it, as you said, its a simple task. Its not going to hurt anything to try it so what the hell

Wait, so you're keeping the diesel torque converter then? i'm not sure that's a good idea....

:D :wink1: :D

DAGGUMMIT!!! I meant governer! I even read everyones posts about the converter after you said you replaced the converter and though"didnt they read the post?" And then i said converter when i meant governor! Dangit!

OK, well i got the headers on except i have to notch the frame on pass. side for some more motor movement clearance, dizzy is in, front accessories and belts are on, got one gas tank drained, carb is on, power steering/hydro-boost is plumbed, and the wiring harness is trimmed down and my gauges are hooked up, still a lot of little thing to do before firing.
I couldnt work on it last week or this weekend cause i was busy getting mine and a few buddies tow rigs and bikes ready for a trip to the silver lake sand dunes. Heres a pic of my 99' tj stock 4 banger with 202,xxx on it with my cr 250 IN the back using a little "stand" i made to go in the trailer hitch that i made. My buddy tony took his half 85' / half 87' 1/2 ton on about nine inches of lift with 39.5" dick cepecks out, the thing did fricken awesome only used 4wd for test hill and it pulled right up it no problem, he did break a warn lock out one time though, hes playing the waiting game on the stock ten bolt lol. We put 2 quads in my buddies powerstroke then a quad and my jeep/bike on a trailer, we looked like professionals :haha:. ill have to get a pic of our rig.
My dads buddy sold me these 4 wheels with 4 - 285 bfg all terrains for to good of a price to pass up, the wheels are a little to blingy for my taste but there growing on me. i had to put them on to see what it looked like. Now that my vacation is over its hammer time :waytogo:

edit: with the small block and the 1 ton coils the front sits a tad higher than the rear now..not sure what im gunna do bout that yet

I'm with Deuling. The aftermarket rims are too flashy for the truck.

Thanks guys, i do agree i like these wheels a tad better, but the pic makes them look A LOT better than they are, one is tinted brown from the PO never washing the brake dust off and everyone of the wheels' clear coat are peeling pretty bad from the wheel weights "oxidizing" or something. the bling bling wheels (and tires) are to good of a price to pass, so im going to get them, ill always have the "chevy" wheels to put on if i want to. Also i believe the bling bling wheels are wider than than the chevy wheels, they seem to give it a better stance.

I liked how those factory wheels kept my tires under the fenders.

You can also have the factory wheels cleaned and re-cleared. Hell, even powdercoated any color you want.

Just sayin'.

Then again could even sell the fancy wheels...

man :doah:, so close to firing and breaking in the 355. it came down to the two coolant drain plugs ( one on each side of the block)...i found one in the garage, but was still one short. besides its almost 11 pm here and the neighbors prolly wouldn't like to here open headers during break in :eek1:. Tomorrow she will have have a heart beat!

well after a few carb problems she lit right up :waytogo:. broke the cam in but i still need to re-adjust the rockers, a few are a little to loud. slowly but surely shes coming along, at least shell be ready for the Woodward dream cruise (Pontiac), and Back to the Bricks (Flint) next week :woot:
