'85 C30 now a K20 - Grandpa's Truck

i do plan on putting a part time kit in the 203, but thanks i will definitely keep it in mind. from pinckney eh? know any Donovans? i dont really know them well but there our neighbors up north..jw

Just moved here a few months ago, so I don't really know to many people.

I'll be heading up north for new years let me know if you want me to drop it off or not. I'll give it to you for the same price as a part time kit. Let me know

had to dig this thing out from page 4! Well i got hosed on the Sportsman heads i picked up, was able to back the deal up but lost a few bucks on the deal. Chassis is still the same, sold my 4 37" hummer tires for a small profit, mounted my 36" tsl's on a set of wheels and put on the chassis.

got my name on a set Dart Pro 1 aluminum heads, 2.02 1.60 200cc intake runners and 64cc chambers, from my uncles buddy that runs a machine shop. He took a down payment from a guy and then the guy walked on the deal. he has gone threw and checked the manufacturs work and set seat pressure. said a grand even and their mine, thats about a third of what they are new.

still a long ways to go with this build, once the heads are purchased the rest will go quicker.. i literally have everything for this motor, gaskets bolts and all, just waiting on heads.

o and my tire groover i purchased should be here monday :waytogo:

sounds like a great combo, with those heads you got room for more cam and compression too! I want to see a start up video!!!!

you and me both dave! i'm not sure if i listed the specs of the motor but its 355, TRW 4-valve relief flat tops sitting .027" in the hole, Comp 274H, Edelbrock Performer RPM, (Soon to have) Dart Pro1 heads, Msd Hei dizzy and a Holley 750 Vac sec. i havent ran the numbers but from what ive been told with a standard crush head gasket (.040" i think?) i believe ill be around 10.25 to 1 compression

lower end -already had
cam - uncle had in 327 for about 1000 miles, got it and matched lifters for 100 bucks plus he had the matching comp valve springs still in the box he gave me
carb/intake - both like new, pretty sure i gave 200 for both
dizzy - already had
heads - even grand
Moroso 7qt pan/pick up - 60

already got head bolts, timing cover and oil pan gaskets, just need head and intake gaskets. believe i need the felpro 1003 and 1205 if i remember right..

o and the brown santa dropped my tire groover off 1 down 3 to go! this thing is sweet

edit: haaa almost forgot i still need rockers..

Besides yours being a roller and his is stroked, you and pricygmc have the same motor.

makin some progress! grooved my tsl's, got my heads, gaskets, 7/16 rocker studs, guide plates, and prw full roller stainless 1.5 rockers. might be able to get a little assembly done tomorrow. still need a set of hardened push rods.

heres a few pics of progress and whats been taking up my time...hauled our old 5 yrd dump truck to the scrap and rebuilt the box on a buddies 12ft dump trailer. also rewired the whole trailer from tounge to tail lights. very happy with the results

needed a motor and it had severe rust issues to the box. the whole front clip had been welded on years ago to keep from falling off. and it was starting to fall again ... the mice had detroyed every wire in it as well. years ago it hauled fill to our house and several family members when they were building there houses. it didnt owe us a dime. couldnt have sold it for what scrap gave us.... it was a cool truck tho, found some of my old hot wheels in it when i use to ride with my dad back in the day, that was kinda cool. i did save the ram/hydraulic system off it as well as a few other things.

made some progress today, got the bottom end sealed up. also got my guide plates and studs installed in the heads. port matched my intake to the heads as well. got the block prepped for everything else, thread chased holes...etc. just need to bolt the top end down and then its done.

All the money you put into this motor and you use a cork oil pan gasket :doah:

Ya gotta go with the blue Felpro one piece. Its even reusable :deal:

And come with those handy plastic stud things to keep it in place while you put the pan on! Not as necessary on a stand, but not sure i would have pulled it off without those when i did mine in the truck.
