85 K5 Build (What to do this summer...)

If you get a late 70s carb, with HEI dizzy, and a gauge cluster out of a 30 series truck without the "check engine" light.... it will pass smog no problem. You just have to take your time to keep all the wire and vacuum lines, not necessarily working, just there in place so they appear to be working. (ex:JBwelding a cut off bolt to the side of the carb to accept a "vent hose") The CAT, air pump, injection manifolds, heat riser, and EGR are the important items.

I'm already in deep with the FI Tech and hoping once it gets dirty they won't really notice

I just dropped a pair of wire strippers near the fan and it bounced off the fan and put a hole in the radiator.

So the FiTech system runs great but I am having issues with the fuel pump being obnoxiously loud (this is due to running the stock sending unit i think).

Does anyone have suggestions for a muffler that rumbles at idle but sounds higher pitched (kinda like a race truck) at high RPM. Im tired of the straight pipe and sounding like a boat.

Thrush welded. Nice sound at idle and good bark under full boil.

I'm running summit branded mufflers of the 2.5" variety on my K20 with a 400, I really like them

Thanks for the suggestions
If i had a better way to get a good recording I would.

That and if I go blasting down the county road again, the 5.0 will come out to play...

Fixed the noisy fuel pump today by moving it onto the tank and down. The new bracket needs paint, but the EFI is running great
