85 Suburban. Back in the shop

Well yanked the air pump off last night. Just put on a Non air Serp belt and whaala.

It must have been very bad, the power increase was incredible. I couldn't even turn it while off. Next headers this weekend, and maybe get to some cutting.

just got into looking at other build threads....subscribed, dig the boxed frame section

Yes, I love reading others build threads.

So, quick question.

What does anyone thing of a rear winch,

I'm going crazy trying to design my front/ rear bumpers and sliders. I very specifically want them to be functional, and match design/ materials.

I like the idea of a rear winch too. I want mine setup for a receiver. And get a good design cause so you can help with mine :-)

I was thinking of recovery and of I ever nose dived into a mudhole or something.

I'm predicting helping broke jeeps along the way...

Well I'm updating because a few changes to come, nothing major.
been busy lately, work is crazy this time of year.
But bought a doubler, a new trans and almost ready to start putting in.

Then I'm ready to have shafts built, and work on shocks. Thought I would post a pic of the rear end after I cut the body.

I hope you take some pics of the patch panel. I will be doing this and it would be cool to see how you do yours.

Yeah I took a break from it for a while. Everything from here cost money, and more time than I can offer. Not sure how ill do the panel, but have some ideas.

Slow going on the big one lately. Hope this gives me motivation.

Just ran down the road to get cold ones and saw a pile of rocks.
This is the 1st time I've been able to drive over anything with the 63s in

The front is limited by some old junk shocks, and the rear has no shocks.

Not bad, but way better than the stock springs

Ok, so that little test yesterday had me thinking about shocks and bump stops. So I took off the front shocks and grabbed a tape measure and now ready to see what shocks I will need.

The rear isn't as flexy I was thinking, but they are still stock leafs with nothing removed. I wanted to see how stock worked before I removed anything.

It was good because I was able to see the steering want to hit the leaf spring.

I'm happy with it for now.

Any thoughts from the more experienced?

Looked cooler in person.

Oh yeah...I need. Body mounts too.

Contemplating body mounts and maybe a 1 inch body lift

Damm. There is a ton of flex in the front. I think you need 14" front shocks. Looks killer!!!!

Do you have a picture of the drivers side stuffed while the back tires are on the ramp?

Your passenger tire is even with the grille! Awesome!!!!!!!

I use to dislike all body lifts. After I bought my California K5 and worked on it with the 1" body lift on it though, I was sold. I have since installed one on my Suburban, and would recommend them to anyone. The extra inch of tire clearance is nice, but the little extra clearance underneath when working on them is great. I still dislike 2" and 3" bodylifts.
