85 Suburban. Back in the shop

That's not bad. My junk has been sitting in the driveway with the steering box off waiting for me to weld in the frame brace since this time last year..right after I got the winch & bumper from you :doah:

13 days no progress!? C'mon man... I know this thing has your lift tied up...

The trans job turned I to cutting and doing sliders:dunno:

Also. Since with you the other day all I've done is bleed brakes and work on that motor home

Its on this Saturday tho.

Good news. The motorhome that's been in front of my shop for past year is done (just not gone)
Hope to get trans in this weekend. ...but dang kids keep having bdays tho

Thanks.
Between filling the cut after I sliced the rocker.
I filled and fully welded both ends (inside and out) of the filler and welded both sides of the slider

7 feet x 8 welds.
I'm exhaustd after 56 feet of welding.

My filler

I wanted something flat for the slider to mount to. So I cut a piece of 2x3 in half..kinda... to cover any imperfections I had when I cut off 7 feet of rocker pannel.

I don't care how hard anyone tires. Its tough to keep a line straight cutting 7 feet half upsidedown

One of the reasons I think I'll just build some bolt on sliders for my suburban. That's a lot of cutting.

I too am looking at cutting out the rockers out of the Burb and doing the weld in sliders. But the 7ft of straight cuts plus moving rear AC lines has me still scratching my head and wondering is it worth it.

It's usually worth it when the rockers are rusted thru, but if not in my opinion it's not worth it

Same here. My rockers had zero rust, but a little on the doors.

I removed rear ac, but going to rig up some sort of rear heater. So I left the heater hoses.

I still am going to tie the rockers to the floor board more. Eventually I want to run 2x2 sqaure braces from slider to frame where the cage will tie in. And even a skid plate or some sort.

Luckily, the doubler seems clocked up compared to the 208.

you're such a hack....

Edit; upon zooming in, I noticed that is in fact not your cross member support.. I see the block of wood on the screw jack. Nice try..
