'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
Haha sorry. I got painted, and then Mother Nature took a dump on Topeka.

Saw that, Lincoln, too. All south of me though. Barely got a drop at home. Although I did expect a backhanded comment about getting a locker installed. Not that it is going to happen in the next two weeks though. I need to keep that excuse in my back pocket if needed.

Nah, the only bashing is on the trails:thumb:

I am finishing the steering tomorrow, and getting the assist done.

Why high steer if you already have a heavy duty tie rod? Have you bent your tie rod?

Martin

My original plan was to leave the tie-rod in the factory position, but I already had the other steering arm.

When I had my d44, I hit the tierod all the time. I went through 2 of them before putting the d60 in.

I really wanted to leave it down below, mainly for simplicity.

But you know what they say, "when in Rome...." or is it "if it aint broke, fix it till it is".

Call Chad 417-621-8103 at Hired Gun Offroad. Tell him I sent you, and have him quote you some SX2's. That's what my buddy got on his Cherokee, and it was a crazy good deal. He owes me some deals anyways:rolleyes:

Just called Chad, he said he doesn't have anything in the 16.5 rim

No, just said he doesn't have any and has had a heck of a time getting some at least in the 16.5 (I am not sure if he was aware of what every vendor on pirate was telling me too that interco isn't making the SX2 right now and doens't have a release time to run anymore anytime soon)

Hmmm, well sorry I sent you on a wild goose chase. My buddy just got some a couple months ago for less that $2000 shipped.

I really thought he would have had more to offer. Sorry man.

No worries man, it's all good. Good luck with hydro assist set up :thumb:. If you have questions let me know. I have done two set ups now that I put together myself with great luck on both.

Oh, I'm sure i'll be on here a lot tonight and tomorrow asking plenty of loaded and stupid questions.

I'm sorry, I can't do it to ya any longer. Those aren't mine, those are off my buddy's Cherokee:haha:

I just wanted them in here for reference, for when I do go with 42's.

But, maaaaaaaaan I'd love to see the look on your face right now:D

I was about to say :D :haha:

Looks good on 42's. Gives me a good idea how mine will look soon. If I remember right too, you still have normal lift springs on the front with the axle in the stockish location right?

Oh yeah, I don't think I could flex on a quarter without hitting the firewall:haha:

I have very soon plans to do some 56's with 6in shackles, and a 52 swap up front.

Traction Action

Busted some arse this weekend and got a lot done. Still some fine tuning to do but over much success was had.

Started Friday night with setting the high steer up, so the hydro assist could go on.

Ran into an issue Friday night when found out my tie-rod was too wide to go on top of the knuckles for high steer. I cut the one end of the tie rod off, and waited till morning to get a tube insert from a local 4x4 shop.

In the meantime, I went ahead and welded up the front end for more traction action. :D

After that, went ahead and mocked up the high steer so that we could at least set up the hydro brackets. Tacked them on, and checked for clearance with no issues.

Got the tube insert Saturday morning, and got the high steer installed and the hydro brackets fully welded.

Also installed a PS cooler in front of the radiator. Haven't added any additional fluid by extending the res. cap/filler. As of right now, every thing work perfectly speed wise with the steering.

All in all, a solid weekend. Thanks to my buddy Corey for a huge help. Couldn't have done it without his badarse welder, and skills.:waytogo:

I've had those parts for 6 mo. :doah:

I'd find a different way to mount that cooler.
