'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
Mine at 5 with the overload had the drag link contact the spring on each direction from center

I already have the springs in the rear right now. So at the moment, I am not going to buy new ones.

I just read some more on @Kay86K5's thread, and it appears he only had the 4+1 overload on the front of his. I think he went back and flipped the overload, but I couldn't find that part in his build.

No, I never flipped the overloads, I just left them in their stock location. Yeah, I have the 4+1...in fact, my current front 52's and rear 56's are out of @mrk5's old K5 (the general). So these springs are pretty well used by now. The 56's are just fine as they were out of a mid 80's 3/4 ton burb, but the 52's are starting to wear out and one is starting to flatten out. But what's nice about the junkyard 52 swap, is 52's can be found very easily for cheap. I already have an extra set sitting in my garage from an 89 K5...I'm getting close to installing my NWF titan/205 tcase setup, and I'm thinking at the same time I'll swap in the newer springs too and hold on to the ones in my current truck just for emergency.

Thanks for the info!

Love it, man. It's a nice rig (hopefully you still have it, 60 pages is a lot to go through, haha).

Haha thanks. Yeah, it's been a rough ride. You always look back at things you could have done better.

I've still got it and always will. Too many memories to sell it.

Headed out to a local ORV park the 20th of May, then it's going under the knife for some much needed suspension upgrades. I'll finally get to use all four Fox Shox on this thing:doah:

Lol, no. I'm going to make some cheap front shackles for the 20th. And maybe spend a little time tuning. Other than that, it doesn't need any other work really.

Made these up real quick tonight to replace my wet noodle factory shackles. These are very temporary due to my spring swap that is happening shortly. These are just to get me by for next weekend.

1/4" thick. Factory 4" hole spacing.

And these are from our last outing back in November.

I shall be putting them on in the next day or so.

Moved this onto the operating table tonight after swapping a wheel bearing on the wife's Tahoe. Everything looks good underneath besides the bent shackles. Bolts were loose on the tierod for the 14th time since I installed them. Tightened them up and everything feels nice and tight now. Also need to swap on my new Diy4x cover before this weekend as well.

That looks better. All buttoned up. Finished it up tonight. Boys played in the driveway and were plenty helpful while mom was out at the Royals game. All that's left is to throw on the new diff cover if I have time.

And yes, I know I didn't paint them. Didn't feel it was necessary due to the short time span they'll be on there.
