FYI, @campfire, there us no advantage of 24 bolts Humvee wheels over 12 bolts.
The 24 bolts where made to handle the extra weight of armored Humvees.
Over the 12 bolts.
As far as 24 bolts are concerned, they look cool. But in a wheeling application, there us no advantage over a 12 bolt. Just a heavier wheel and more unsprung weight.
As far as the 8 bolts to 12 bolts go I could never track down an answer. But the general consensus I have heard is that they needed to change away from 8 bolts because the field tire change manual said remove the 8 bolts
And our highly trained military would take the axle shafts out...
