'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
Yeah it’s had full hydro on it for a year or so now.
I thought so. Personal opinion and you probably won't like it. But I would strongly consider switching it back if your intended use has changed. I know you will probably say it's fine, but in alot of states a full hydro steering is illegal.
If I was going on trips with my kid that would be a no bueno situation for me.
Just my opinion/advice. Take it or leave it.

Plugged off the oil cooler lines. Didn’t go fancy like @Kay86K5 and use anodized blue, but these were only a few bucks at the parts store. Also filled the oil filter and installed it. I think I’m finally ready to put oil in this thing.

Also pulled the bypass valve for piece of mind.

Oh I hear you. It’s been on my mind for a while.

You mentioned the word adventures and somehow @campfire didnt harass you for it! When we get both our rigs going I wouldn’t mind meeting up for an adventure at some point

Why would I harass him for adventuring? It's a great idea. I typically harass you guys for NOT getting your rigs out of the driveway. :deal:

You're both welcome up North whenever you're in the mood for a roadtrip.

I do agree with Beags, though. Full hydro on the street is not a risk I'm willing to take. With or without passengers. At best, the steering is clumsy at speed. But engines stall. Stuff breaks. You'll be just fine, until you aren't.

yep, park the truck it’s illegal for the street :rotfl: I’m pretty sure there a list of shit illegal on the truck and that’s the last thing a LEO would figure out.
It's not like I would be worried about that or saying Greg should be. Nor do I want to start a huge debate about the stupidity of most law's. Just was pointing it out from a safety standpoint. But I know you know that.

I just thought it was a odd point to bring up on a forum that revolves around modified vehicles.

And you likely noticed I didn’t touch on the safety point. But you probably already knew that, right?

Yeah it was. I knew that. And I know Greg is smart and all, but alot of guys will defend there decisions until they are blue in the face.
I guess I was just looking for things to add to the facts to help back up my thoughts.

Fuel line finished up tonight. Still need to block off the return line since I have the corvette regulator back by the tank.

Kind of running out of things to do while I wait for the harness/computer and the trans out of the diesel. Might be quiet here for the next week or 2 while I wait.

As small and silly as it is, I was really excited to put on the serpentine belt tonight. I was going to swap the old 350 to a serp set up, but never got around to it. Something cool about working on newer technology in this truck now.

Made a list yesterday and I have 11 tasks left to do. 10 after slapping the belt on. Nice to see the list that small. Pulled the old engine in October, and looking to fire this one up in February. Pretty stoked about that.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Keep running to it. I swear it's not an oncoming train. Making great progress!

Lol. I understand. But it's seems kinda stupid to "find" wheels when you just found some.
The aluminum wheels are going on the diesel. The 37's are for the Jimmy so I don't ruin my 40's. The stupid thing would be to throw nice aluminum wheels that are for a different project on to a beat up rock crawler project.

You said for the street.
Not my words. Yours.
I didn't see the problem. carry on jim
