Hopefully I've given some ideas to some people... I try to be original and innovative with my work... Certainly not your normal build thread.... :haha:

function and form go hand in hand.... :wink1:

well i'll use em unless they are patented and you're just waiting to sue me for all of the no money i got :haha:

The only issue I've had is, that I can't seem to get the back corners to stay under the rail on the tailgate section, they keep popping off.. Seems like the hard plastic lip is too short there.. That and the rear window being a tad long and not clipping in...

Neither seem to be a big deal to fix... I'll have my canvas guy shorten up the window, and I guess redo the corner stitching to expose more of the hard plastic..

I'm not sure how the soft top really works there, but I wonder if it would be a good idea to extend the rear window bottom edge & sew in a tailgate-width strip magnet into a pocket so that it will seal up the rear window to the top of the tailgate without any fasteners or whatever.

Maybe impractical because I haven't ever seen one in person, just a thought.

Later,
Buddy

interesting, thanks... actually, I'd have no clue where to look for a magnet strip that long.. :doah:

the stc has the channel that some hard plastic at the bottom seam fits into... it is a good setup... tho you do have the aluminum strip screwed to the tailgate, whereas the sides have it built into the bedrail...

i think it'll work well, if just shortened up an inch.. it really looks like the seamstress that day apparently partook in crack for coffeebreak, as the piece is obviously cut too long. you can see it compared to the corners....

really need to take it over to my canvas guy...

on another sidenote to the thread, I ran into my boatname painter friend, and he said no prob to do some alphabet sets of small print decal's in my copper color to label my switches, breaker panel, etc... very stoked on that..... very.... :D

yet, I've done diddley on getting the latches for the box cover and glove door... need to get on that...

I'm pissed.... the thing I really wanted to get done this weekend was the fans... was gonna finish the glassing, get it primed, and black imroned.. but I just realized i'm out of epoxy, and left the 2 gallons I have at work..... :doah: :doah: :doah: :haha:

Oh well, I guess I'll build the fan harness and do a few other things...

also jacked my fuel pressure up from 12 to 13.5 lbs... Wow!!! What a performance gain... really utilizing that TBI salad bowl now... :haha: One of these days I'll hafta get a laptop (priority #87) and run some Winaldl and see what it's actually got going on....

ramble over.... :haha:

I love your Blazer. Very well built. I love the dash and will be in line to buy one when ever you get around to selling them. I notice you run two volt gauges. I am curious, couldn't you have one volt gauge hooked up to a toggle switch to switch to the other circuit when you want to monitor it? It would free up room in the dash for some other gauge, if you need it, that is.

Thanks man...

yeah, we run em in some boats like that.. But I specifacally wanted to run 2.. thought it would be neat... :D

wasn't overly concerned about losing the gauge spot, I actually have one more spot for a fuel/air when i get around to that...

Here was last nights project.... Idea stolen from Minimull, thanks Christie! :D

The local Rag Shop was going out of biz, so I picked up some material...

it's coming together... get my floors and seats in, and the interior will be pretty close.. still need to do my ALDL port and ON/OFF switch for the timing in the ashtray, get the plexi over the circuit breaker panel, door panels, cb, yada, yada... :haha:

Here's some shots of how the interior is coming together... decided to go copper on my Lund visor too....

Have you ever considered going with a full custom made dash for your Blazer as opossed to just a dash insert? I'm not sure if it could make it out of the fiberglass stuff you like to use or if perhaps aluminum would be better. I'm thinking something along the lines of the full race dashes with the integrated center console like in the desert race trucks would kick ass in your Blazer.

yeah, I did when I first got the truck... Think it would have been bada$$ incorporated in with a cage, the copper and black... I'd leave tube exposed, and yeah I would most definitely use the composite to create the panels...

I had to rule that out early due to the DD status.... Doing a cage AND a whole new dash/console thing would have been too much downtime....

I will be caging it at some point, and I will be going thru the corners of the dash.. So who knows, yeah I may, or may not at that point decide to run tube across, and go full, full custom... It actually probably wouldn't be too bad as all the wiring is done.... We'll see when I get a bender.... :wink1:

So is that a heater on the floor down there in the center, can i have some details on that because im interested, hey and also what did you do with the ac vents and tubes on the two spots on your left dash around your steering wheel?

The heater is covered pretty thoroughly back earlier in the thread, like page 2 or 3...

It's a Summit heater, and it rocks... It still needs to get mounted up on the firewall behind the ashtray.. and the one duct vented up to defrost..

those vents are long gone... i'll only have floor and defrost...

Man the more I see of your Blazer the more ideas I get for mine. Keep up the great work it is looking good.

WOW, Paul, you've been busy. Awesome stuff as usual. Love the headliner, and that fan shroud is going to be sweet. You've got so much one-off stuff going on in your interior and under the hood. I can't wait to see it all come together. When you get the engine compartment a little closer to finished it should go up for a GMOTM for sure. Would it be the first engine compartment GMOTM shot? It would as far as I know. That would be sweet.
