87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

I actually think the ano-tuff ends up pricier than the Endura fittings and proflex... The main reason is I want the bulkhead fitting in there... Figure it's the trick, right way to do it...

reusable ends and steelbraided are THE way to plumb.. There's a reason you see it on 7000hp top fuelers... easy to do, not as quick as cutting a hose, but simple... obviously it's a $ investment...
Hmm. Yeah, I really like the idea of the bulkheads. As I said, it just seems like it would make it easier/safer to run the hose..won`t have to worry about grommeting the firewall, etc. You`re going to re-do all the heater hoses, right? I`ve never looked at the one on the back of the motor, but I know the one on the rad. clamps on. With using the stainless, I`m assuming it will still clamp, as well as clamping on the heater?

EDIT: Pretty much what I`m wondering, Where do you find use for the elbow fittings when running the heater hoses, and will the AN, or Ano-Tuff clamp on the rad. and the heater, like the rubber hose does? When you run the bulkheads, what will you use on the interior side of the firewall, from the bulkhead to the heater, the AN as well? TIA!

the other side of the bulkhead is barbed, for hose.. so short hose and clamp from there to the heater...

the fitting on the back of the intake is NPT to barb... easily changed out to NPT to AN

as for the front, I no longer run to the rad, I run to the top of the water pump as earlier SB's did.. Which is NPT, thus the same as the intake manifold..

steelbraided is not designed to "slip on, and clamp"...

Tho you could easily come up with "barb to barb" bulkhead fittings to run regular hose on both side....

Cool, thanks Paul!

EDIT: Will I be able to run to the top of the water pump too? I`m using an older SB, but with a serp setup?

That is a reverse rotation pump... I wouldn't think it would be an issue, but don't quote me on that...

hmmmm, gotta remember to order flap wheels from the Bible today...

Just out of curiosity, what is involved in moving it to the top of the water pump? I know that you are using an aluminum radiator, but how would you do this with the stock radiator? How would you plug the hole?

Well yeah, I went with an aftermarket universal aluminum, no provision for that... It's a cleaner look imo going to the pump anyway..

But to retain the stock rad, you could just plug it... short hose, barb to npt, pipe cap would work, tho kinda hokey...

Or you could crimp/crush the nipple on the rad, then solder the resulting seam.

You should be able to find a rubber cap as well. Just need to find one with some strength so you don't split it and spit all of your coolant on the ground.

I appreciate the information. I will have to look into that, and I agree it just looks cleaner with it running to the engine.

dash

Ryoken,
have started making the dash like yours for other people yet? if so i would like to know what one for a 90 v1500 suburban and a 75 pickup would run me.

It's underway, I've fallen a little behind in production due to blowing my tranny up, but hopefully I'll be back on track this weekend...

by the way you have mad fab skills. but let me know if both dashes are doable and what kinda price i'm looking at. and what options are available for them.

Can't wait to see what you do next Ryoken. You've sure given me a hell of a lot of ideas. :waytogo:

Thanks for the props... I cut a corner here and there, but usually try to overbuild stuff...

both inserts are the same for those trucks.... price is looking like $250, 275 each... there is a whole thread on it where most questions have been answered.. i can pretty much do whatever config someone wants...

Thanks man, it's fun to have a place to I guess 'showcase" it for guys who can really appreciate the work.. The general public has no clue most of the time...

I really think the floor/slider thing is gonna be pretty killer.. Haven't seen anyone do what I'm planning, so that makes it fun... :wink1:

So since it's off the road for 6 months, I decided to go at it...

Lots o things planned.... :wink1:

So have you done any thing to the old girl lately? I can't wait to see more progress.

the truck is gutted right now, and I do mean gutted... :haha:

pics in a couple days of some progress...

I can't wait to see them. You have given me so many ideas. I can't wait to get my truck back and start working with some glass. I already have some things that I'm working on.
Thanks
Adam
