87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

ABout the tig thing...

A class is good and all, you just need to sit down in front of the machine and play. Once you play a while, it starts to get easier. Im still learning, but I wanted to be comfortable with the puddle and everything before I spend 2k on a class. This way, I can get the Most out of the class, as most classes are taught by someone who has a lot more skill than teaching super beginners. They will naturally correct and help you advance further along.

The included BBQ grill is usually pretty funny from what I hear.

Funny thing is, I got my tig before I got my mig, but find myself using the mig more often, since, I find myself often contorted in some direction and I cant use the foot pedal.

I sleep well at night..

My girl always tells me I'm the most noble guy she's ever met... :eek1:

That, and a quarter'll get ya a phonecall... :doah: :haha:

Its good to be able to sleep at night and not worry that someone wants to off you. WEll, more so than the next guy.

the parts train stopped by yesterday....

finishing up some shopping with Kert now... then I order the fiberglass nose.. psyched on that...

Being happy with yourself is more important than what others think, especially management, most of them are tools anyhow.

hey thanks man, haven't looked at it that way..

It's kinda funny, I'm 43, and thinking back, most of, if not all my jobs have been with smaller companies.. Loyalty, teamwork, doing the best job you can, etc was real, and mattered... This big company, corporate office stuff is new to me..

I guess I probably offend any management-type guys that may be in here, I'm hoping they have a different approach then the ones I deal with... I don't want to stereotype, this is just my corner of the planet...

I'm proud that my collection of tools is more important to me, than my wardrobe... I take much more stock in someone that has the gift of a craftsmen, than gab....

anyway, back to what really matters, the rig.... :doah::haha:

I can't wait to order the nose.. Gonna take a couple weeks to save up, but here's what I'm gonna run...

Fiberglass!!! :eek1: :eek1:

Where did you get the panels, I've been told that all fiberglass reproductions suck as far as fitment.

I'm convinved it's a better option... easier to repair when need be.. no rot... little weight savings to offset winch/bumper weight... plus, I'm just looking to have something a little different... I've seen tilt/glass noses in here. but never a full bolt on..

That company has a decent rep.. But obviously I'm not too concerned about modding them... It's glasswork, I do this stuff daily.. When I'm in there doing the airbox, wheelwell, etc, getting good fitment will be cake.. Any areas I feel need strengthening, it'll be easy to take care of...

The money was more a factor than anything... The hood is a pretty standard price at $389..

the fenders and wheelwells are about double what Taiwan sheetmetal runs... $200 a fender, and $95 a wheelwell...

My fenders and wells are shot... I also would like to pick up a new rad support at some point.. Mine has that typical rust at the bottom going on...

very sweet man!

advance auto sell's new core supports through their "right choice salvage parts" department. i picked up a brand new '91 core support for my k5 for $90 (but i work there, i think they are usually like $120 or so) and everything fit perfect. and it came next day with no shipping charges.

JEALOUS! Kert's work is amazing, just simply amazing

mmmmm beef...

one of my fellow mechanics went to pick one of the razorbacks up with 1 hand and almost dropped it on his foot... :haha: threw the one in the glassbeader today... still have the other set of u-bolts coming in and the custom B-52's...

just ordered the last 2 pieces of suspension today (well, other than shocks), fush kit and custom 56" rear spring packs...

next calls are to Jesse, NWF and PSC........

thanks, good to hear that.. I'll have to check in with my local one...

funny, I've been second guessing the glass nose gig now... I'm strongly considering going to the pre 80 style and I may end up going all steel now, including functional cowl hood... either that, or full tilt glass...

plenty of other purchases to be made, so I can think about it for a bit... my NWF and Jesse orders are BIG... gonna have to turn those 60 hr weeks into 70.... :doah::(:haha:

fock... :doah: I just added up the remaining shopping list, about 7 g's........... :doah::eek1:

It's been every penny of my OT, and then some probably.... I have unlimited OT for the next 2 months minimum... been averaging 55 to 60 for 12 weeks now.....

It's just how much I can stand/survive/killing spree...

I'm also making for a BIG tax return next year, paying a metric ton in taxes these days... :doah:
