87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

So when your done with your cage, whats your thoughts about bending up another one exactly the same, except without maybe the seat and console bars? Actually whats your height? Maybe I do want you to go ahead and bend up the seat bars. :wink1: I mean I know you wouldn't want but a couple hundred to make a cage exactly like yours right?:D

Wise words. BTDT, good advice.

funny thing is, I'll walk around on a broke leg for 6 months, gaping wounds, etc, but heartache turns me into a quivering wuss.... :doah:

BTW, your cage is seriously overkill even for you, and the welding is gawd-DAYUM-that-seriously-clever sort of stuff.

I really love the look of the 2", just has that stout look... Also, I'm very happy with how the door bars came out... I think the whole parallelagram shape thing really enhances the seat lines.... I think it's turning out to be a strong, functional cage design with some cool form, and I'm pleased with that, being my first cage design...

I get most of my cage inspiration from a truly overkill cage, RDN's...

props to that psycho amount of work...

I also appreciate your posting in-progress pix, as it makes it seem like us ordinary mortals could maybe get close ... as opposed to the magazines where they show us the "before" and the "after" and we say ohm, that's nice, but I can't do that.

I try to remember... anyone EVER has any questions on how, or especially why, etc, I did something, just ask...

CK5 truly embodies the do-it-yourself, "Built Not Bought" spirit.

It's going to be my windshield sticker.... :wink1:

You suck dude..... go back to preschool.;):D

No it looks fuggin tits. Reeeeeeeellllllly like what you did whit the top of the cage (the ladders) on the left and right sides... gives the cage a tone of strength and it looks awesome.

Have you thought about tube doors? Maybe run some pipe on the floor to connect the front to back and turn what you got into a door. Could also make em removable incase you want to run the stock doors.

no intentions at this point for any tube doors... guaranteed I'd be getting pulled over every day in this state.. I do have another set of doors to turn into 1/2 doors at some point, but thats about priority #164 at this point...

You say package of joy, I say if you have all these parts why are you posting here? You have work to do!

Edit: Did you ever mock up your 700 to 205 setup, and if so, are there any changes that need to be made to the output shaft on the 700? I am hoping to pick up a 700 to use in Krusty, but I have to figure out what all is going to be required to make it work. My 350 is starting to die so it is time for something else.

well, your 350 adapter will work.. the difference is whether you use the fitz-all spacer or not... with the spacer, the output shaft is fine, and the front shaft clears.. without the spacer, you need the shortened output shaft, and there are potential shaft to pan issues..

I'm pretty close to needing to get that stuff together, but I still need my clocking ring..

Thanks for that information. I will go ahead and get the spacer if the trans comes through. Then I just have to do something for the lockup and I will be ready to get it into place. Then maybe, just maybe, I can finally get the front driveshaft shortened to work with my Krusty.

I can dig up the spacer # if need be, it's in the forums somewhere..... Scott knows it off the top of his head, but I don't think he reads this thread...

I'm not really sure on any overall length difference, pertaining to shafts... for me I wasn't concerned as mines gonna be measured once done, so I can have Jesse make me up some badarse 1410's...

build teaser....... new addition to the overly crowded dungeon downstairs, pics later today... :wink1:

I will keep my eyes open when I get back online Sunday night.

I blew the original front driveline last year and have another but since the 205 is shorter I have to have the new one shortened. Best time to do it is when I install a 700, since they are around 2" longer than a 350. That means that I can easily measure it and have it cut once the trans is in place. And I will get the part # if the trans comes through.

haha, I just took some..... :wink1:

had to curtail work for a few days, while I brought my tools home for the job swap.........

a day in the life of the dungeon, completely out of control, and unworkable....

the Snappy rig comes home for good... it'll be staying here too for the foreseeable future being the new job is a 1/2 mile from the house...... overkill, but kinda nice...... :eek1:

can ya tell I'm a marine mechanic? I generally run 10 or so different portable bags..... :eek1::doah::crazy::haha:

believe it or not, this is pretty damn clean for the Dungeon.... :haha:

need to wait on the front seat bar till I get the drivetrain mocked up... all the seatbar stuff is 1.75"

next on the agenda... console bars, these are gonna be fun.... :doah::crazy::eek1: :saweet::weld::grind::weld::saweet:

Looking good Paul! Glad to see some progress over the weekend. And while that box may be a bit overkill for a house, I am a firm believer in overkill!

It is actually very nice having it here... I'm already way more "organized", in my head at least.... no more, "ch*t! big project this weekend, what do i need to bring home" stuff...

plus, it makes the shop a little less, dare i say, dungeon-like... :wink1:

today I've got a TON of trivial work... welding panel tabs in, final welding on some joints, gusset's, etc...

I also need to get my drivetrain out on the floor and get it ready to throw in for floor mockup.... just wish i had my clocking ring... I'm anxious to get the cage flanges mounted, and see how the tunnel/floor and console are gonna lay out...

hmmmmm, OVERKILL, wouldn't be a bad name for the truck, I think thats pretty balls on accurate...... :doah::haha:

here's a few others I had on the comp for your amusement, same stuff, just with a mockup seat in so I could figure out the console bars... I thought the a-pillars where tough, wait till ya see the multi-axis bends on these fockers!.... :doah::crazy::(:haha:

<------------------JEALOUS!:rolleyes::D:haha::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow:

Looks great Paul, progress is definitely being made!

Yes. project overkill. how appropriate. REALLY looks good Paul. Want to build a cage for my Vette?

funny you say that.... yesterday I ran into the guy I sold my Chevelle to.. he's been trying to get it ready for Pinks at Englishtown....

he's gonna need a cage done....

man, was I jealous watching that thing rip down the street... miss it, what an eye turning, nasty hotrod... looks like I'm not quite done working on it.... :wink1:

a Vette would be fun too.... and tight...... :doah::haha:
