Ouch!

good thing it was a pole, not an oak tree..... :doah::wink1:

the pole tag # was left imprinted on the door.... :eek1::haha:

here's how bent that car was, the passenger side door had a 6" gap between it and the qrter panel... ripped the striker right out..... :eek1:

Brillliant....

was wondering why no angled bars from upper B pillar to middle horizontal bar? Or even a verticle bar in the middle?

good question... thats the other area of triangulation I'm trying to make up for.... I want to maintain the ability to climb from front to back in a pinch... and i wanted to have a lower 1/2 wall on the b-pillar, thus the upper and lower horizontal bars that started the lower section..

also, the seats are quite large, and kinda tuck into that opening a little.. angle bar would prolly hit the headrest...

i may still add these to help out....

the other thing I'm counting on is the back cage section to really help with any lateral weakness....

the cage design has been a little bit of a compromise between function, and "real world" function.. starting with the parallel roof stuff for the console, to leaving the upper b-hoop open.... but I'm trying to make up for it in other areas and with beef...

Looking good. You should post that picture in the thread asking if running doorless affects the way a vehicle crunches :D

btw I'll definitely be stopping by, possibly with the tubing for my truck once I get my new trans and tcase in...

Those explain away any shortcomings I may have been thinking.:wink1:

just keep in mind, come next monday I get thrown back into a meat grinder.... :grind::grind::hack::grind::grind:

more than likely gonna be doing 6 days a week till x-mas.... but I'm always available on a sunday...

which on a build note, works out well.... haven't had a stitch of OT, gotten a fair amount of labor done, but now I've got no money.... :doah:

now it'd be nice to crank in some coin for that last "push" on the parts list... which at last count on the need/want list, was between 4 and 5 grand.... :doah::(:o:crazy::haha:

thats why I'm gonna push HARD over the next 5, 6 days till i start the new gig.... I want the floor in, and cage MOUNTED.....

Just a question, but how fast are you planning to be moving when you roll this thing? Evey one keeps asking you to add bars in to the cage, and I don't know why. You should see how much simpler the cages are in IMCA cars that my friends have rolled at WOT and walked away. I think some people on this site are to concerned about triangulation. There is something to be said for being able to still move around inside the vehicle when you are done. I have sat in my room mate's IMCA Modified. It is uncomfortablke as hell, but the only time it sees the streets is when he loads it from the garage to the trailer.

Heck, the cages I have helped build for figure 8 cars, and demo cars are generally built out of scrap iron, and cobbled together. My buddy rolled his figure 8 car, we rolled it back onto the wheels with him still strapped in, dug the mud out of the stacks, and he finished the race. . . . .

Don't get me wrong, I think you are doing amazing work here, I am just continually confused by the people who want more bars welded in all the time.

my train of thought on it is, if I'm in there there's certain things I wanna do while I'm at this stage... in other words, I can always add something minor, gusset, triangulation bar, even the back 1/2 of the cage, etc down the road, it's the base design in the cab I want to be "good"... or at least "done" now...

i'm pretty confident it's way strong, as is.... it's not perfect when it comes to triangulation strength according to cage design stuff i've read, but pretty damn good imo... the lower b-hoop is a little excessive, but I think the rest is fairly simple in design....

believe it or not, I strongly considered ease of use, etc when designing this... thats why the door bars are that way, as opposed to some angle one running all the way to the front foot.... ease of entry...

heck, the worst the truck'll probably ever see is a flop.... :wink1:

I see where hes coming from though its still done to the 9's and people keep saying add more. Check out some exo cages online. Hoop behind the cab, over the cowl, over the front bumper and tie it all together and you cant crunch the thing.

Put 5 pts in it and we'll give it the brick wall test, of course you'd have to just go buggy then :haha:

Btw as far as the sundays thing goes yeah that fine. Its not gonna be anytime this month I doubt. probably late aug since I had to do the trans and tcase and I was already broke.

I'll definately come by and give ya some tool bitch time for the to come help though!

in the end, the cage'll be 11 point.... :haha: with 6 points being tied to the frame...

Flops are one thing, and if your crawlin, that may be all it amounts to.
didn't know Pauls' intentions for his style of wheeling, but have you ever seen what a roll down a big dune, or worse yet rock hill does?
Definitely want to protect your ass, and your head.

being I don't have my clocking ring yet, I'm just gonna block the 205 up in position for floor/tunnel measurements....

hopefully the next update will be the floor getting fabbed.... :saweet::grind::weld::saweet:
