87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

i have a quick question for ya ryoken. do your fans humm. while the truck is running? i have wanted to convert my to electric fans for a while now just dont want that humming noise.

well, it has been over 2 yrs since i drove it, but iirc, nope ya didn't hear them in the truck... that was a stock tbi motor and exhaust.... maybe when i would turn the second one on ya might have heard it a bit at idle, but i'm just guessing at that....

mine is a custom shroud for the Windstars too which may or may not affect that... and under rpm's ya definitely don't hear it...

boy, glad I called to order my hood today, USBody is backed up till january.... :doah:

but at least it's ordered..... :woot:

I think you need to take this rig on a national tour.:waytogo: Ryoken coming to a sand box, mud hole , and rock wall near you! We all want to play.:D

mucho thanks bro's... it always motivates me even more than i am already.... and i hope my build has motivated and inspired some of you.... :D

at least my build pics should get a bit better soon, I'm hoping for a new camera for x-mas.. hopefully something that takes a decent video too...

well, for as much as i would have loved to get my hood in 3 or 4 weeks, it may have worked out for the better as now i'm gonna order everything for my 60 tomorrow... i'm anxious to get to it, and get it hung under the truck.... the 14 will have to wait a bit, as the Detroit is gonna crank that bill up a bit....

the black peanutbutter mud by me!!!!!!!

that's really what I'm figuring most of my wheeling will be.... lot of that muck, standing water kinda stuff.... thats what my buds that run heeps are usually hitting in this area, trailriding and muckholes...

i just picked up a canon rebel T2i... does high def video and also it is a DSLR..... LOVE IT but the lenses are EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!:doah:

haha, very good timing on calling me out on this.... :wink1: as this is approaching in a hurry, the firewall is the soul determining factor on this.... and that is #3 on the upcoming refinishing list...

1 prime cab floor
2 paint cage
3 paint firewall
4 paint floor/underside/interior

if i was a normal person, this post would be 1 word, copper or black. :doah: but i always feel this need to explain my train of thought...

sorry to disappoint some but I'm going copper and here are some of the thoughts behind it...

black is certainly a MUCH safer, easier choice... basically it turns this rig into a 2 color deal, orange and black.... it also makes the logistics of doing the work easier... much safer choice in the overall design/look/style of the rig too...

thats probably the main reason I'm going copper.... :screwy: :haha:

this rig is probably as "not easy or conventional" as I could possibly make it in the idea's/design/fabbing behind all the mods... :doah:

it's definitely a little more challenging and risky making the 3 color theme of copper/black/orange "work"... but I really think I can pull it off and make it look pretty sick... I guess if some of the "black" voters can be swayed at the end to like it and think it was a good decision, than i'll have succeeded..

it'll certainly not look like ANY other rig... whereas satin black is definitely pretty prevalent around this forum... not that there's anything wrong with that, I love that look.. but for as different as the build approach has been, I think I should maintain that "mantra" on the look too...

there are some other more trivial reasons I wont bore you with...... but hopefully in the end it'll look pretty badarse.....

I think we're ALL getting a little sick of seeing it... :haha: but I am glad I've held out as long as i have and really tried to complete as much fab/mockup stuff as i can..

and thanks for the vote of confidence..... thats one thing, especially after seeing all the goofy-arse stuff people have done over the years, that i think i know, is what looks decent... tho ya never truly know till it's on there... :doah:

nah, more like that goofy teal and fuscia era in hotrods in the late 80's, early 90's..... WTF where they thinking.....

or when everyone got ghey over the white pearls and flipflops..... THANKS LEXUS!!!:whistle::haha:

oh, but the next project WILL be a satin black Willy's with a stupid bright green drivetrain....

Paul, perhaps something to think about:
WHEN (not if but when) this truck makes a mag article, think about what to say, to be able to describe this process (not just a build) behind your construction. From the thinking behind decisions like paint choices, to the layout of the different operating systems, that are off the beaten path to get to where it finally arrives. And then be able to capture it all in a few pages. To me, this build has been a process that has a vision of the end product in sight the whole time, even though changes are made as progress moved forward.
Obviously you have a big cheering section that would like to see "our" truck in the pages of 4WOR and the like.:waytogo:

wow, good stuff..

and thanks, i'd certainly love to rep CK5 in print.... there's no doubt the rig has been influenced by this place... Ryoken built.....

and i am a tard most times about describing it all.. that's what i get from liking math in school over English :doah: :haha:

but a beer at the bar yacking truck tech/theory, and we're closing the place.... :deal:

given some time, i think i could write a pretty cool article about the rig, and the concept behind it... grammar and spellchecked by an 8th grader obviously... :wink1:

alrighty, i gotta go down and work............................. :grind::weld::saweet:
