87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

oh, but the next project WILL be a satin black Willy's with a stupid bright green drivetrain....

hhahhaaahaha.. i know where there is a purplish pink truck frame... even has a moroso emblem on it... hmm wonder if they still have it..

when i first saw it.. i thought... SO 80's and I would SO ROCK THAT!!!!!!

i saw it on a pile of metal... maybe junkyard hopping this weekend...

this build has been a process that has a vision of the end product in sight the whole time, even though changes are made as progress moved forward.

also..... this quote right here, may be the most accurate thought on the build that i can think of... all i can say is you really nailed it... :bow:I always feel a little goofy about talking about the pic in my head.... but it is there.... I can't say how, or why i come up with some of this..i guess it's applying my life's influences from jobs to friday night car shows to the Terminator movies... :haha:

I get an idea, i figure out a way I think it needs/wants to be built, then curse myself for an hr........ or a month... :doah: :haha:

some decisions become easy once you've decided on a carrying over a style of building for that vehicle... this one carry's over a couple, but obviously is heavily influenced by the composite fiberglass.... yet i've tried to keep that copasetic with the metal work... floor, cage, etc...

I think tying the 2 together in the console and overhead with the exposed tube gig really makes the design flow...

oh, 1 last design babble here for ya... :o courtesy of ole #7... :haha:

i have to confess, the circuit breaker/glovebox was an old idea.... I first did it on my 71 340 Challenger in 1985...

and.... I've been around a long time and got to build some pretty cool rides, done some trick switch panel, electrical, original, windshield squirter in the well, kinda things that where neat.... :woot:

for all of ideas I've ever put in a ride, I am by far most proud of the consoles.... I can't tell ya how pleased I am with how that whole brain pic worked out... I'm so excited to get the black and orange painted I could piss myself... :woot:

yeah better use than i have for a glovebox...

msd6-al w rev limiter and timing control....

and please dont piss yourself when we go wheeling.. do that in the company of your own self please :haha:

the joy joy pee myself moment will be long gone by then.. :wink1:

not sure if I'm gonna run a CD system... for now, no... if i do it'll mount it to that megasquirt board behind the glovebox...

yeah, i've looked at it briefly... definitely some nice new features.. but I've gotta read up on it more... I want to be able to start out with tweaking the he!! out of a tbi system, but want the flexibility to cover me if I drop an LQ9 (drool) in there at some point....

I definitely wanna run the relay board and probably the GPIO right off the bat... it'll just make wiring so much simpler and neater to do that stuff now, as opposed to adding stuff later...

I'm looking at a fairly substantial bill once you start adding in o2, air/fuel gauge, ect.... i'd really like to do EGT too... but this wont happen till the end of jan, beginning of feb.. so i've got some time to do the research i need to... I was doing some heavy reading a couple weeks ago on it, need to hit it again...

I ordered my dana 60 stuff today.. well, everything except the C&M bronze kingpin bushings... i have the megasquirt stuff and what i need for the 14 penciled in for jan and feb, just need to figure out which to order first at that time... i have to wait and see where i'm at with physical work on the rig at that point...

I'm committed to having it being a rolling chassis by the beginning of March tho... :deal: :saweet:

From some cursory reading into the MS3, if you are looking at controlling an LQ9 down the road, then that would be the way to go. The MS3 w/ MS3X board can control 8 logic level coils (like the LSx series use).

It is still fully capable of running a simple TBI with spark as well.

I'd look into the price difference between the MS2 kit with the MS3 added later, including the new case and just starting with a MS3 kit to begin with.

I'm thinking I'll do the 3 and add the card later.... that way, the hard part is done... i really wanna read more about the 6 solenoid controls and what can be done there...

and please, always feel free to throw MS advice my way... I really really need to spend more time in the forum...

DAMN YOU CK5! :haha: psych.... :wink1:

hmmmm, maybe I can control my heat/defog flapper from that..... noooice.....

I tried to order those bronze kingpin bushing from C&M online and it kept telling me not to proceed with checkout due to a security issue. I have also called and left a message. No call back yet, been about a week or two. I'm sure he is just busy, and a one man operation. I need those too!

thanks... yeah, I got that last night too.. as long as I can get em in the next 4 to 6 weeks... I'll have to put a call in too..

btw more build blah, blah.... i gotta find time in the next 6 months to get the rear bumper built... it's in the plans... all i need is 10' of tube.. but that may actually be the first "project" on the road... bumping the PC/LCD down one..

but one thing i did realize was, now that I ordered my hood to get the front clip sorted out, i'll probably be trying to sneak in the custom airpan for the hood somewhere too... I wont be doing the flapper yet.. but i'll build the tbi box, gasket, etc.... hang the gauges from the opening.. guess i'll start on that when i'm mocking up the clip..

that'll actually be a cheap one for me tho... just composite and time really...

well, big weekend of work for me... the cab is getting primed this weekend.. I have a HUGE punchlist of stuff to do... and i've been working on it daily... within a couple weeks the cage/cab and frame will all be final painted.. glorious day that will be...

Yea, just through Monday. They posted it on their Facebook page first, but it will be advertised on the site later.

I'd love to do a main hardware purchase... do another order in march for the O2, etc. more incidental stuff... but order the 3, relay board, jim stim, gpio maybe, etc, now.. get a decent savings on that load...

hmmmmm, checking the finances...

:zombie15::dunno::doah:Um I don't get it:confused:

I know its hardware stuff....way over my head:waytogo:

Paint is cool Paul, anxiously awaiting the splash of color to the overkill you already got going on.
:D

honestly Dave, it's kinda like a dream, going to prime... i thought about it today.. it's been 2 yrs of grinding, fitting, welding, grinding, some more grinding, rinse, repeat... I think back of all the fab hrs I've put in, and it seems endless..... I'd be scared to REALLY know what it's been... :screwy:

and yeah, that's all gree, ummm I mean Megasquirt hardware stuff yada.... hopefully by this time next year I'll be in deep with the tuning software... and running it thru the 747 LCD... :pimp:
