87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

where exactly do you go hunting and fishing? got 4 salmon rivers not far from my town. and 2 off them are well known, especially matapidia which has a lot off fisherman from the states! they have the million dollar pool where nobody from around here can fish$$$

hmmmmm, salmon never fished salmon.... i've been going to a place called fish creek ny since i was a kid... it's northwest of lake george... mainly saranac lake and all the surrounding lakes.... it's mostly northerns and bass..

so did I convert any grill nay-sayer's over to digging the grill? :ears:
No, but it's your truck, and I love the rest of it. I just generally dislike phantom grilles of any form, street or trail.

saranac lake, nice place, used to rent a cabin from some folks down there on thanksgiving every year. have a fire, get drunk, and fall in the lake. good times.

ok, mounting....

there are now 7 of these incorporated into the grill, 4 across the top.. 3 on the bottom... they are all 3/8 course...

the 4 across the top bolt into these tabs i sectioned in the rad support... drilled hole, welded nut on back...

there's a link in that post below the pic to the place I saw the Nato plug at....

the reason for 2 air cleaners is my airpan is being designed for a 6" tall filter.... the carbon fiber setup is a low filter.. so it was either a dry 6" replacement element or the K&N added to replace it.. i decided on the K&N for moisture reasoning.... I'm also gonna be running one of their prefilters... so when done, i'll have a leftover 3" tall x 14" dry element and the bottom of the carbon fiber setup leftover...

I really found if it is mounted externally, ya HAVE to have a frame for it... the expanded is just STUPID sharp... now i saw crash did his on a pre 80 clip and managed to mount it to the backside of the grill.. eliminating the sharp edge scenario.. maybe he'll chime in...

I actually did mine like you did yours it is mounted with 6 1/4 20 button heads from the front. only thing i did different is i did not trim it out in round bar i see what you mean by sharp edges i smoothed it out real nice but i think I'll end up going back and adding round stock like you did.

this is where we camp....

http://fishcreekpond.com/

pretty incredible scenery up there... we cruise from lake to lake, fishing the creeks... real shallow draft stuff on the creeks... we run what i call my bass boat...

boat11.jpg

it's actually a 12.5" 1968 AMF cartopper, outfitted with a deck, fishboxes, fishfinder, livewell, etc, etc... 15 hp out back, badged as a 9.9... it's awesome for us.. doesn't like the bigger lakes so much when it gets rough, but it's a ton of fun...

we keep our main base camp at the campground, but often go on overnighters out at the state sites in the middle of nowhere... on islands in the middle of lakes, etc...

we have our spots... one creek we just troll back and forth with spoons and haul out 30 to 40" northern's, one after another... massive amounts of large mouth in the area, and the occasional nasty fighting small mouth...

love being out on an island at night, checking out the aurora borealis, big fire, Wild Turkey, etc.. I always say it's so tranquil, I'd love to just rip around on one of the ponds out in boonies with a wave runner... :eek1: :doah: :haha:

cool.. :D

Rollins is where I stayed as a kid when we would go earlier in the yr... but they close labor day and we go the second week of sept usually now... practically nobody up there after labor day...

thats actually the first thing i do after finding a site, go drive around an empty rollins pond and find a good chopping block.. :haha:

oh.... and the best breakfast in the world... Tupper Lake, the Lumberjack Inn.. I'd be dead inside a yr if I ate there all the time, ya walk out the door high from the cholesterol.... :eek1: :woot:  :doah: :haha:

:haha: :waytogo:

i actually went and read some reviews and they all said what i said... :haha:

the lunch /dinner stuff is ok, but the breakfasts are truly nuts... huge portions of stupid good food...

ain't nothing special to look at... the decor consists of giant chainsaws from the 1800's hanging on the walls..

thanks Google!

i saw you went with a tighter pattern, I forget how they size expanded...

yes i went with the smaller size to help keep out the sticks and stuff on the trails.the only odd spot in the grill is where i had to cut a hole out for the hood release. might end up rigging it up like the new models like yours. and again thanks for the cool idea. :waytogo:

well, just a quickie here...

got some stuff today, more next week...

Just so everybody knows, Warn just reboxes those connectors and doubles the price.

Search for item 7043K24 on the McMaster website, the big ones only run $20.

Agreed.

I got about 6 sets with some short cables off ebay a few years ago for around 100.00

ebay search

Of course, mine are yellow and were made to hook up a bank of batteries for a golf cart, but they work.

Later,
Buddy

Allen "Ollie" Gelfand .... bs air to tail at the Dogbowl revision at Marina Del Ray......

Nice pics, used to ride my bike in some pools around here when I wasn't racing. Glad you got the light buckets, grill's looking good.
Please post up lots of details about which headlights you go with and the wiring for the led turn signals,I'm putting my 75 together with the original clip and my wiring and having a hard time deciding which way to go for headlights and connectors, switches, etc.
