it is a bit more pronounced than say, the Moroso... I like it, little bit of an oldschool feel... even with the graphics, it's got a subtle feel to it... even the red bowtie will kinda match the filter...

I just hope it being a bit more rounded up top doesn't bite me with clearance too bad... trying to get that filter as close to the underside as I can...

anybody ever wants better step by step on how I do something, just ask... sometimes I just gloss over things, assuming the majority know...

that was a super quickie.. it'll require some more glasswork/tweaking so i wasn't overly concerned with perfection..

i like the blue tape, little slicker than most.. then a couple coats of mold wax, and brush 2 coats of PVA (mold release) on, let dry.... comes apart stupid easy like that...

little trade secret for anyone that may do some mold work... your 2 friends are water and a blow gun.... the PVA is water disolvable and if you take a blowgun to the edges, it pretty much just pops off...

hopefully I can have the pan married to the salad bowl on the weekend... ;) believe it or not, one of the most annoying difficult aspects of this is gonna be creating the lips for the filter and gasket...

if you look at a stock tbi setup, the spacer ring and filter housing shroud the injectors quite a bit.... the Powercharger opens that up to increase flow.. of all the tbi mods, other than fuel pressure increase, it gave me the most seat of the pants power gain...

at some point later in the summer I'm gonna finish up my "stock" setup with dual intakes and the powercharger and sell as a package i think..


I should be setting all this up this weekend... lot of glass work over the next month.. i think it'll be surprising how much more aggressive the new setup will be...

ahhh.. good to know, as i'll be building my 5.7 tbi shortly.

i've been building imports for years, but my k5 makes me feel new all over again.. haha
 
stock GM injectors... it was THE one thing I didn't do when I modded the tbi, knowing I would need bigger when i built the 383... the adjustable regulator is just cfm tech's adjustable...

basically an impossibly difficult to reach knurled knob under the reg in the back for adjustment... it is a nuisance to adjust.. one of the reasons I've strongly considered a vacuum-referenced unit for down the road..
 
i was asking because i have one of the vacuum-referenced units on mine and it is finicky to say the least i was wondering as over the top as your rig is if you had a better idea.
 
honestly, until it's a cammed 383 running thru megasquirt, I have only given it a cursory look... I like the idea behind the vac referenced, sorry to hear it's been touchy.. i'll keep that in mind... all the aftermarket "high end" vac referenced ones I've seen have been psi ranged for port injection, not tbi....
 
yea i think thats my problem i read up on it alot on cfm's site and got a vacuum-referenced unit from 3rd gen site for the camaros and so forth I'm like you i think they are geared more to tpi and so forth.
 
actually you just got me going on this.. went over to actually peak at Summit as opposed to random google hits..

i didn't realize there where so many in odd lb ranges.... i figure something that does from 3, 4, 5 lb range up to 20 to 30 would be good.... found this Mallory from 4 to 25 and it has a vac port too... i'm sure there are other candidates too...

i would definitely like to go with a separate component as opposed to the "hump your motor while you adjust with a needle nose and scream profanities" route...

I think it was a good choice.... and it really somewhat works with those stock valve covers style-wise........ ;) so they'll stay awhile... :haha:


I think once the pan is painted, the whole underside of the hood modded and painted satin black, it'll all really work well together...

at first I wasn't real happy about the gasket being so gray in color as opposed to black... but I'm now thinking as more and more goes black, the gray might be a good contrast... also the black lip of the pan will be extending up the side about an inch to minimize the gray a bit...


being dragged in to the pit of despair for part of the day tomorrow, but I'm really looking forward to working on the rig all day sunday.... :woot:
