so, I'm bummed... I'm so stubborn, and i hate to admit defeat, but the gauges ain't gonna work... I'm just not happy with any solutions I've come up with...
I mocked up a wiper today and it sits higher than I remembered.. really thinking of putting a windshield in it this week.. I could make them fit, in the grill I'm making up, but they definitely would need a bit of peering/movement to see.. the wiper is definitely in the way.. and also, in order to have them fit, they need to be recessed back from the lip 3, 4" where the firewall comes up.. thats where the grill is going to be, so the mounting wouldn't be bad in the grill, BUT being recessed makes them even harder to see... without the wiper it would work, but combined, it's kinda f*cked..
and i just dont wanna mess with the back line of the hood.. the 3 hump thing might not be bad, but it may look goofy... sooooooo.. the gauges are coming inside... i found a spot...
i'm gonna run em over the LCD panel, where my stereo was in the prior incarnation....
I really hate to lose... I still think it's a badarse idea, and if the hood was an inch higher, I'd go for it..
but this will be cleaner.... just black recessed grill in there.. I've got enough going on with the hood as it is... only issue is the fact both the fuel, and trans pressure gauges will need to be isolated units now.... $$$$
alrighty.. back to sanding....
