I got "City Hands"...I like to keep them that way :haha:

"Don't you worry Chiefy....it won't be permanent....wanna see somethin' permanent?....just put yer hand under my cap...Boston...St. Patty's Day...ba-ba-boom..." Quint ca. 1975

I love it...I wish somebody here would get it and fix that! What an awesome build that would be.

And speaking of Fire Engine Red...I hope you don't mind my question, but don't you think Mutt would look real mean in Fire engine red?

I've done that red quite a few times... starting with my Duster, did a Cuda, etc..

yup, it looks good... I dig my custom orange tho.. always wanted to do one back in the bodyshop days and never did..

I can't say it's 100% what I would have mixed up myself from a tint machine.. like I did with the blue chevelle.. matter of fact, I know it's not.. it would have popped a bit more.. but I do really like the tone of the Ryoken red..

it just kinda came about from the K5 really.. trying to figure out a third color for this build.. the copper, black and ?

a reddish orange fit the bill.. well, might as well carry over part of the combo to the tow rig... no copper for Mutt tho...

I love that Dodge....has a mean stance...expect Charles Bronson to jump out of it...:haha:

I launched that truck twice like the Duke boys.. :woot: :saweet:

i'm talking 5 to 8' of air, like 25' to 50' or something.. unintentional on both.. :doah:truck could fly tho! :haha:

scared the pee out of me the first time...when I lived in pennsy and first built the truck.. doing 40 across the wheatfield and hit a surprise down tree.... almost knocked myself out on the roof..

than lost it in black ice, dirt berm launch, over guardrail :eek1:, field, Branchburg township sign :eek1:  :eek1:, landed 10' short of it in a mud hole.. fun times... :haha:

FYI from an electrician. Tape is best band-aid for work but get a roll of 3m super 33 white. Last better and comes of clean, no goo left behind. This from a guy that wraps almost daily from splits and cuts.

yeah, I know that stuff, our yard guys use it for rigging tape I think.. cool, thanks... :D

it would make a sick towrig... 6BT :saweet:

chopping ply, yay!

gotta pick up some hardware in the morn, but I'm gonna start screwing and glueing it together tomorrow...

Seen this at a local get together last summer. Just bad a$$

I love it! Now I want one of those....

I need to go back and look at the Jaws outtakes and see what kind of truck Quint is driving when he goes to the Piano store to get piano wire for leader....

the stupid things you have to do.... :doah:

so, when I came up with this cloysterflock idea of the plexi insert... I did a quickie mesh of the area in question, and saw it was just about 3" high... ok, awesome, i'll get 3" x 30" plexi...

but, I knew this was gonna be tight...

as you can see in this one pic, as the sheetmetal gets to the trim recess, it drops in about a 1/4"...

well, I knew I would have to cut straight across from that upper and lower hole edge...

than I'd need to bend the lip, and hammer it smooth, so I could get every mm of sheetmetal so the edges of plexi where covered, and the majority showing.. in addition, it gives me some chance of building/securing the frame I have planned...

here you can see where the peak was, and how I'm flattening it going around... I'll finish the hammer/dolley work off tomorrow..

but here is the plexi behind it.. 1/8" of sheetmetal all the way around... :eek1:

once I build the frame to hold the whole assembly, it'll be absolutely perfect... the LED's will be hidden by the sheetmetal, and lighting up the plexi from just off the edge..

can't start the frame till some time next week tho.. the LED order didn't come in.. and I need those to determine frame spacing/mounting...

kinda fun, splitting time between the cabinet and dash... plenty to keep me occupied.. :D

will you be able to see through the plexi when not lit? or does it have some kind of reflective backing?

I went into Hobby Lobby today for the first time in a long time to get a very special Jaws print framed....and noticed they have a ton of automotive, gasoline, Chevy related metal signs and hangings to decorate the Lab or garage with....

ummm, the insert will have another behind it that is painted black... so your never seeing thru it per se...
