I don't trust those cheap crimp on connectors (the yellow units in your pic), especially when they aren't in the interior. I have seen too many corrode and/or pull apart, unreliable. If you have a better crimp tool (a nice Klein o rsomething) to fold the top over AND it is in the interior, then it might be fine. But for under the hood or exterior, I always pull the plastic sleeve off. Then crimp the joint, then solder the joint, then slide shrink tubing up(that you already placed on the wire before you crimped the terminal on if you can't get to the other end of the wire easily) and then shrink it. It's much more reliable than a cheap crimp connector, and it will look more like the big red wire. Also, I would replace the electrical tape with shrink tubing and solder the that one too.
