'87 Suburban Build "munepit" I'm Back! Missed all you guys!

I just use my tires as bump stops. When they hit the body the axle doesn't go up anymore! :haha:

Looking good Munepit. :waytogo:

I think the stops hit the U-bolt plates. You can always weld a "tower" to the plates and have them bump off of that. Wish I had a picture, seen if a few times.

There is actual 2 bump stops 1 that hits the ubolt plate and 1 back on the frame closer to the shackle on the frame that hits the spring. You can see them in this pic.

Sweet! Hits the u bolt plates! Nice. An excuse to buy some nice ones from Kert! Thanks. I think Grinch is selling some bumpstops on here. Cool. Off to the for sale section!

I drove it! Not far, just around the block. So far so good. It was to dirty to see through the windshield. Now for the bad. Tranny pan gasket is leaking. WTF? Pissed about that. And the speedo cable is leaking. There is no speedo gear, but I don't think it should leak. Goddammit.

I do like the shackle angle and it sits about an inch or two lower. Not a huge difference though.

Sure looks good wet though.

Need a new driveling.

Looks like it turned out great! I think maybe you should cycle the suspension before you order a new driveline.

Found a spot to check out the flex. Wasn't that big of a ramp though. I think I maxed out the shock on one side and had an inch on the other.

Looks great! Especially considering one front tire is a few inches from the fender and the other is over a foot from the fender! How does it ride?

Looks good man! :thumb:

so incase i missed it, where is the final location of your front axle from stock? 1" forward?

It rides good. I don't have all that swaying like before. I do have a little though. Im thinking I need some adjustable shocks like the MX6s. Like 15". I like it!

Looks good.... but I dont think the over loads are going to do much the way you have them in the pack.

Well, it will be trial and error deal I think. In this pic the third to the bottom leaf, there was a clamp in the leaf, I cut the clamp off but the rivet is still there. Its hitting the overload spring right here. With it this way, It looks like the pack cannot go negative at all. I think this is about as far as it will go set up like this.

Any ideas how I should improve it? Thanks!

The over load is acting more like a zero rate then an over load. I would either move the springs above it or pull it out and get a zero rate thing.

You should find a bent drag link not a straight one, the THE is almost maxed out just sitting there.

I would grind the rivet off and move the over load up two springs, put the short ones under it and should be good.

TRE you mean? I agree, with the pass. tire stuffed, the TRE is almost maxed out, pass. drooped would be passed maxed out!

Ok, I don't know how to do that reply to multiple posts deal. So, I do have the bent draglink from ORD. I also have brand new Zero rates from Diy4x sitting on my work bench. I could use those or cut down the overload. I don't want it any higher though.

Here you can see the bent draglink is real close to touching the engine crossmember. Its in between the two humps in the crossmember.
