'87 Suburban Build "munepit" I'm Back! Missed all you guys!

Well crap. I went to tractor supply and two junkyards this morning. Couldn't find a decent pair of 3 wire signal lights. I might have to just re connect the light and leave it. It will probably be broken soon anyways.

Jeff hit up amazon or eBay. I picked up both of my 3 wire LEDs for less than $20

Stacy David on Gears has a cool project book for your builds. They are out of stock. I need one to keep track of stuff. Oil change today and flushed my radiator and added coolant/ antifreeze. First time I've put that in. I've always just used water. Wonder if it will keep the temps down? Or just keep the inside from rusting.

$13.00 a gallon for coolant/antifreeze. X2. No wonder I always have just used water.

Water is the best at transfering heat. Antifreeze doesnt transfer heat as good, but it prevents freezing. You could try running bottled water plus Waterwetter and see how well that works. Bottled water will slow or stop the rusting, and waterwetter will assist in that plus helps transfer heat as well. That might be the ticket for you, depending on your weather and such.

Did you want stock replacement?
I have some if you do but if you want aftermarket go to a truckstop there are a few in you city, they have a couple of options for you.

Thanks, I will try that.

Ok, Thanks. Im not overheating. Just though I would add it because Ive never used any since I installed the motor. I thought coolant would help cool the motor more than just water.

I got the lights the other day. I can't get them to work. It will turn on, but won't blink. I've tried evey combination of wiring I think.

I tried to hook up the original light back up. It won't work.:haha:
WTF. The other side blinks. I can't get the one I'm working on to blink. With the light unhooked all the other lights are on but won't blink. When the headlights are on, are the ambers on also? I forget.

I think I have the wires hooked up correct. The hazards all work fine. The LED works. When I turn on the blinker the one side just stays on solid. And no ambers anywhere when I turn on the parking lights.

I replaced my tail lights with lmc assembly and I had to hook my wires up back wards for them to work properly:dunno:.

If I remember correctly my Optronics LEDs are

White = ground
Red = brightest LEDs
Black = dim LEDs

So I wired them

White to chassis
Red LED wire to the blue truck wire so the blinkers were the brightest
Black LED wire to grey truck wire for dim LED with headlights on.

I'm like 90% certain on the red n black LED wires. I'd have to check.

I hope this helps

It does! Thanks! I didn't think about grounding a wire to the frame.!

Thanks again fellas!:bow:

You are right though. White= ground, blue= flashers.

I'm gonna derail this bitch worse than an amtrak train engineer!
