Weld the trunion piece that's on the bed? Is it not supposed to move at all? If so than I can try that.

Turns out there are 2 tack welds on the back of these from the factory and mine were broke off. I welded all the way around it and now I have a quiet tailgate.

Mine had tack welds. I broke them off when I removed the hinges. I later reinstalled them without tack welds, but I haven't had a problem with them yet.

I'm assuming the piece the tailgate rotates on was loose not the plate.And welding the plates fixed it? Like the plates were moving?
