88 Crew Cab Dually 2wd to 4wd Build

I got very thick washers on mine.. and then ground down the frame just a hair.. i havent had an issue yet.

I just shaved mine a bit with one of the "(" where the shackle swings.

Any one know what the frame width is on a 4wd between the shackles??

It doesn't matter what the frame width of a 4wd is. It matters what width the spring pack that you use. If you flush the shackle to the outside of the hanger and spring. Than take the inside shackle flush to the spring. Swing it up in contact with the frame and mark the inside. Shave an extra 1/8" for lateral play.

I guess if your hanger is bolt to the inside of the frame you can use it too for a guide.

Are those just stock 52" springs that you're using up front? As much arc as they have in them, they almost look aftermarket.

I may be mistaken but I think 4" lift 52's will get you 8" of lift in the front. is that what you were shooting for?

SURE! I really wasn't sure what to expect with the 2wd but I'll be happy whatever the outcome. I don't plan on driving it maybe once a week. So, 8" will do just fine:waytogo:

Got started on new engine Xmember. It's 3/8thickx 3.5"wide. I plan on connecting them in the middle with something, maybe some old wrenches might be cool?? Also, of course planning on welding a strip to them. that will bolt to the old susp. holes in the frame. I will trim back some thats close to the oil pan too.
What you guys think? Any ideas on something I dont see?

Why not just fire up the bender and make it out of tube?

Having my tools and the dually at two different locations really blows! So, I wanted to feel productive during the week on this thing. That's why I went this route. You think I should just scrap the idea and go tube? I mean I already have the same concept going what I would do with tube. Plus, it becomes harder having it at 2 locations to make it come out right in a timely manner.

do the plate. youre already half way done!!! plus everyone does tube, it'd be nice to see something different for a change.
