88 Crew Cab Dually 2wd to 4wd Build

Got the 205 in and used a stock xmember to hold it up. I couldnt figure out what was not looking right after getting it in and ready to bolt up but it was hanging way too low and angled like crazy. Then realized the 2wd frame is way taller then 4wd frames. Going to do a little fabing on the xmember to make it work.
Wierd that I had plenty of room for the 205 tto go in since many say it wont fit without a body lift:dunno::dunno:

you just need the gm flange ring to use reg nuts . that what gm did.

ford / dodge used flange nuts .

and your tcase crossmember is prob for a 1/2-3/4 ton frame. true 1ton is almost flat across.

2wd and 4wd frames are the same height.
As sweetk30 said you have a different crossmember.

Sorry, guys not in my case. I pulled a 4wd xmember so I could use it off another dually I had and was a few inches shorter. It was the one that bolts to top and bottom of frame and noticeable difference. Or someone could have done a switcheroo before me?? No matter it will get done.:waytogo:

Ya I knew they used rings but I'm not a fan of them. Now you guys are making me second guess my crossmember that I grabbed. I may have grabbed the wrong one out of my pile of parts:confused::confused: CRAP

I owe a big thanks or appology to sweetk30 and imiceman44 for making me go look at the crossmember again.:thumb: Turns out I had two for the truck and got it mounted up with a nice lil skid for looks too.

I'm sure you figured it out but the issue was that the 1 ton frames are taller than the 1/2 the 3/4 ton frames. They use a crossmember with less "drop" in them to make up for the taller frame.

Well I didnt like how the springs were sitting flat with the flip so I found some springs to go under with all the 4wd brackets. By doing that it also centered up the axle and tires making it look better. Got the hole cut for the shifter and getting new seat upholstery mon.

Got the new interior in to finish off the grey and im VERY happy with the quality. Got them from CLASSIC PARTS after returning the crappy ones from LMC. Started her up today after sitting for more then a year and I just need to finish some small stuff like bleed brakes, power steering fluid, tranny fluid then, go for a ride:)

You should add a later model steering wheel to finish cleaning up the interior.
