'89 Blazer LS swapped DD/Adventure Rig

That's going to be nice when it's done. Is Maaco painting it? I've thought about going by the one here to see if they still offer any kind of "economy" 30 footer package. LOL

Maaco premium, yes. 2K urethane/clear, 5 yr warranty. They did my brother in law's 94 K1500 3 years ago and it has held up great. They're a franchise so I can only vouch for mine here in town... Do you have one over there? I'm sure you could work something out with them.

Yeah, there's a Maaco over here somewhere. I've looked at the corporate site but there's no pricing. I'm looking forward to seeing how yours turns out.

gawdamn. just read this thread for the first time.
gotta say, the way it was setup with the 5.3/nv3500 & 20s looked perfect to me for a DD. i'd drive that somebitch every day with a smile on my face.

cant wait to see the new paint.

Made my 3rd trip to Maaco to check on the blazer today.

They had color and clear on it, and I am pretty happy with it (paint). The body work is another story. A couple body issues that were explicitly stated in the work order were never addressed, and at first they refused to budge on fixing them.

The hood had pretty significant hail damage that was virtually impossible to detect with the old paint on it, they didn't fix it before it was sprayed..

Dent in passenger side body line was pulled out and filled, which was fine. BUT it was sanded and shaped improperly so the body line has a discontinuity in it now.

Couple other less significant issues that went untouched.

When I dropped it off, I said that I want everything fixed that was listed, AND anything else they find along the way. This definitely didn't happen. I was even willing to pay extra for other dents etc..

I totally lost my cool to the boss. I made it clear that it was unacceptable. They agreed to fix the places I was unsatisfied with. Bottom line is: They thought they could get by with a rush job, and I'm definitely not the guy you want to try to sneak something past. I'm paying for a premium job and I have not received it, as of yet.

On a better note: THE COLOR IS KILLER, its gonna be slick once these problems are resolved and its cut and buffed.

I'll keep you all posted and get some pictures next time, I was too pissed to get any today.

Our Maaco in town had a very bad rap for this kind of work ethic. Sorry to hear that they tried to pull one over on you. Get picks up here as soon as you can!

Looking good! Did they have to take it down to bare metal? Dont the 89s have some defective primer or something like that?

Thanks for all the love guys, I hope to have it back by friday week.

They took it to bare metal as needed, evidently the GM primer was decent on this one.
