I hear you heath. I plan on capping the ends when the cage is out and smoothing the corners. At this point the harness bars are landing on the back tube already, and I would have to do a tremendous amount of work to rework that. Even with the seat sliders, back seat passengers will have to climb through between the front seats. The harness bar and the seats do not slide forward enough to make that a viable option. I have some 1/8" plate I plan on running between those two bars as a "step" . That should help with the toe catching.

Well you do what you need to do, free time isn't free these days, I hear you there. I just have one question, is it finish welded to the cage yet?

That part is 60 %welded(top side). I still have a bunch to do including frame ties. I feel like if I redo that it will take way too much time and have me finish end of the year. The cage is removable. If I hate them I’ll redo it. Yup two kids and one is in soccer, work being busy doesn’t leave me much time.

Front seat harness bars done. Need to weld in the driver side. That means just two more bars and then the cage gets pulled for final welding. Now that I’m almost done I’m starting to get good at complex notching lol

Driver seat burned in. Gonna redo the rear harness bar so it lands exactly on the center of the x. Will repurpose that tube to one of the two tubes I have left to land. Thanks heath for making me not take shortcuts. I just wanted to be done. Lol

Redid the rear harness bar. It now lands in the center of the nodes.

Finished the last two bars and started pulling the cage for final welding. Need a taller hoist lol. Gonna put a few 2x4’s across the trusses and use a chain fall to get it fully pulled. Hopefully I can do that tonight and start prepping for bedliner in the cab. I have 185 feet of tube in so far.

I got the cage pulled and started finish welding it. I have most of it done. Need to flip it and get the underside good. I hate vertical welding.

I was wondering how you were going to pull it with the A pillar through the dash and plates at the floor.

I can get full coverage of the a pillars once I reinstall. The bottom bars between a and b have a flange.

Rear cage is fully welded. Including belt tabs. On to bedliner prep for the interior and paint prep.

Nope only have used 3 but that's only one coat. I'm coating the bottom 1/4 of the bedsides as well. For a truck bed I could see using multiple coats but this got good coverage and the surface i wanted for the interior.

Been working on stripping the rust while I wait for my paint to show up for the cage and the bedliner to fully dry.
